Am I supposed to do an introductory sort of entry with this journal, or is it automatically known who's writing this? I haven't had a chance to really read up on it, but they've been pestering me at work to get one, so--here I am.

I got a bigger desk today. Accomplishment of the month, I suppose. Right by the window, too, it does wonders for my eyes because the offices here have always been rather dark. Hopefully the autumn weather remains as nice as it has been.

Hm. I'm not sure I've figured out the appeal of these things, just yet. All I've managed to encounter were tiresome annoyances.

Unless you use them to call someone a tiresome annoyance. I'm not sure that's helping the journals live up to their potential.

Ah, well he is communicating, so I suppose it is technically being a tool of communication.

Yes, but is it good communication? I'm afraid that Mr. Corner will only alienate himself and lose friends by calling them names.

The good is modifying the word tool, not communication. I am sorry for not being more precise, Ms. MacDonald, but good for you for being so compassionate and concerned with Mr. Corner's social life.

Do you make this a habit? Butting into conversations that have some minuscule resemblance to something you could discuss?

When are you due, if I can ask?

I'm all right, just busy with work. There's always news to report.

In the beginning of spring next year, around that time.

Yes, especially now... do you have time during the week for lunch?

That's lovely, you timed things perfectly.

I'm sure I can manage that. Your schedule is far busier than mine, when would you be free?

Oh, Gabriel darling!

These things get entirely bothersome, to be perfectly frank. And quite unnecessary, but apparently they're "in vogue."

I am also of the opinion that they are rather juvenile, but that's neither here nor there.

I'm doing rather marvelously for myself, I believe! And what about yourself? I imagine your new working quarters must have given you a new invigoration for life, etc.

That's excellent to hear, and the restaurant?

Oh, it is a bit exciting, I'll admit. I'm hoping that-- beginning to believe that this is another step toward actually being sent out of the country for reports. You do know how I love to travel.

It's doing very well, as a matter of fact--so much so, I feel almost overwhelmed by it! But of course, I'm quite resilient. I deal with success very well, I find!

I think that sounds rather fantastic for you. Of course, given the current state of affairs for our darling public and its Ministry, I don't imagine you will easily be let out of the country. Not that you'll have to deal with much more than gratuitous paperwork, given the purity of your blood, naturally.

A desk! I suppose we lowly interns are too unqualified for desks.

Although that isn't entirely true, because I did fight and win for the shifty stand in the corner.

Out of innocent curiosity, what exactly is the status of your previous desk?

It did take me a long time to manage my own, you'll get there eventually. A shifty stand is a much better than the wall I dealt with for a while.

At the moment I think it's just sitting there. I think that if it looked as if it were occupied, no one would be any wiser to its actual usage..

If I could only manage to steal a chair, I would even go so far as to call it cozy.

You're a good man, Gabriel Corner. I anticipate you will go far in life solely based on your good looks kind and intuitive demeanor.
