Lavinia was not happy with her father at all, but she was also feeling pretty guilty. She was the one who'd pushed Merlin at Draco as soon as Draco had broken up with his latest fling. Maybe there had been some other factors involved in Merlin being thrown out of the house, but it wasn't fair and some of it was definitely on her. Plus, was this what she had to look forward to if she decided she was going to be with a woman instead of a man? Pyxis may not want to be her girlfriend, but maybe there'd be another girl down the road.

She showed up at the Malfoys and her uncle let her in and told her Merlin was staying with Draco. At least her brother was getting laid. That had to be some small comfort to him. Lavinia knocked on the door to the room, and then peeked inside, sighing when she saw Merlin reclined on the bed, reading. "It's nice to know that even getting kicked out of the house can't stop you from working."

Merlin hasn't been sleeping well and despite his best efforts, Draco hadn't helped either. He had dark circles under his eyes and he was kind of paling from the stress, but everything else was fine. He was going to be moving into his own flat as soon as he found a job.

He looked up at his sister and smiled softly at her. "Is this considered working?" He asked. "I have to find a real job soon."

"Well, if you're studying something it's working," Lavinia said, getting onto the bed beside Merlin so she could give him a hug. "I miss you. Mum misses you too. She packed a bunch of your clothes for me to bring. She's going to visit soon. I think she thinks she's going to change Dad's mind and move you back in."

She leaned against the pillows next to Merlin, giving him a concerned look. "You don't look like you've been sleeping."

"I'm not moving back in. Even if Mum changes Dad's mind." Merlin shook his head and looked back at his sister, slipping his hand into hers. "I'm not going to live in a house where my own father hates me."

Merlin sighed softly. "I haven't. Not really." He told her, looking her over. "But, Lucius is going to let me rent a flat he owns. Hopefully I can work things out."

"You're clever. If anyone can handle this, it's you," Lavinia said, squeezing Merlin's hand. "I don't blame you for not wanting to come back home. I don't think I'd want to either. I'll try and soften Mum to the idea so she's not too shocked when you say no to coming home."

She leaned her head against Merlin's shoulder. "If worst comes to worst, you can always marry Draco for his money and then you'll be set. There are worse fates."

"Poor baby. Your boyfriend wants to take care of you and touch you and have sex with you." Lavinia snorted, reaching up to ruffle Merlin's hair. "Tell him you're fine and you need some space. I know he's a diva, but even he might understand you wanting some alone time."

She kissed Merlin's cheek. "You're getting your own place soon, right? You'll have plenty of space then. Just make sure not to accidentally ask him to move in with you or something."

"Well, move out fast so you can get some sleep," Lavinia advised. "Pyxis moved out of her parents place too. I'm waiting to be invited over to see her new flat. You're not allowed to make me wait too long."

She laughed at Merlin. "I hope I never fall for someone as high maintenance as your boyfriend," Lavinia said, shaking her head. "Pyxis wants to set me up with her cousin Lisbeth."

"I don't know what I want. I guess you can set me up with her. I don't mind rough around the edges. Sweet would be boring." Lavinia frowned to herself. "No, I don't think I'm over it. I had sex with her twice. I was going to tell you, but then you got busy being kicked out of the house."

She ran a hand through her hair. "But Pyxis doesn't want me. She's not all that into girls. She'll shag us, but it's pretty obvious she prefers boys. I want to get over her, so that's almost the same."

He looked at his phone when Lisbeth texted him back and laughed. "She's interested in going out with you. She's going to-" He grinned when her phone beeped. "Text you."

"Maybe you're not completely gay, but you're still pretty gay. And you probably would have at least had to try and get over Draco before you attempted to marry a woman," Lavinia said. "Maybe finally dating Draco will cure you."

She looked down at her phone when it beeped. "Apparently Lisbeth doesn't waste any time." Lavinia looked down at the message, then texted her back asking where she wanted to meet. "I guess I have a date now. I'll have to wear real clothes."

Merlin laughed at that and shrugged. "It's hard for me to even remember what you look like in real clothes. You're always dressed so frumpy. You should tart it up a bit. Get a little saucy."

He wiggled his shoulders at her and snorted. "Don't shag on the first date. No one will want the ice cream truck if you're giving the popsicles out for free."

"Tart it up a bit?" Lavinia repeated. She punched Merlin's arm, laughing. "Fuck you, I am not an ice cream truck. I will somehow manage to go on a date with her and not shag her."

She looked down at her phone when she got another text. "Does The Clam's Pearl sound like a lesbian bar to you? It kind of sounds like a lesbian bar to me."

"I don't know what he thinks you're not going to be able to do because you're gay," Lavinia said, frowning to herself. "It's not like we're living in the fifties or something. You can have kids and hold political office. Give parliament a couple of years to pass the legislation and you'll be able to get legally married without leaving the country to do it."

She grumbled when Merlin hugged her, hugging him back. "Don't apologise, Merlin. You didn't do anything. It's all Dad being a prick."

She looked up at Merlin, kissing his chin. "You're going to be okay," Lavinia promised. "Even if our dad is a dick. Mum and I both love you. I may or may not kicked out of the house when he discovers my lesbian tendencies."
