Heidi
It had been a long time since Henry had a girlfriend, and he was enjoying it very much. The past...it'd been nearly a month, really, had flown by with how completely enthralled with Heidi he'd become. Henry was very good at schedules and at keeping things going at a pace he believed----it was also hard for him not to think of things in a business-like manner but---oh, she had his head spinning, he really could not explain his behavior from the last few weeks. He was sure not to overwhelm her, that Heidi felt like she had every right to not see him some day, or not. If she wanted to hold his hand, he'd surely let her, and if she wanted to kiss him, then, well, who was he to deny her of that?

Spring was already flourishing early on in the season. There was a park two blocks from the restaurant where their lunch date took place, so in a not-so-subtle, personally-thought ingenious manner, Henry suggested a walk to prolong the date. He wasn't really one for walking, or the outdoors, but Henry decided that dealing with things he may not enjoy to have some good time with Heidi was a proper new approach to life.

"I should bring a balloon home for my niece," Henry said thoughtfully, squeezing Heidi's hand as he spotted a vendor. Leanne always had a little treat waiting for her when Henry knew she was coming, and balloons were one of her favorites.

Heidi was very grateful for the fact that he was trying to make sure she wasn't overwhelmed. After the whole business of being married and then losing her husband in an extremely sudden and traumatic way, the slow pace of things was painfully necessary for her. She hadn't been upfront with Henry about her history because it wasn't something that she wanted to deal with right away, until she was sure that he could be someone she could trust for the long run, until she was ready to admit that the whole thing with Drystan had (unfortunately) happened.

She thought that the walk after their lunch was sweet, really, and the weather was nice enough that they ought to take advantage of it while it lasted. She smiled, nodding her head and glancing toward the vendor.

"But what kind of balloon?" She was personally partial to pink poodles, but she couldn't say no to a saucy purple elephant either. It was sweet that Henry was so good to his niece, making sure that she felt comfortable around him. A man who was good with kids couldn't really be a bad guy, could he?

No, of course not. Henry had proven himself to be nothing but kind and decent.

He watched with amusement as the vendor began twisting the balloon around, the squeaky noise it made causing him to wince slightly. He had been thinking about just getting one of the regular round, floating ones, but seeing as Heidi was once a little girl, her instinct to get an animal-balloon was probably more on the mark. Henry stayed back a bit while the family received their assortment of animals and he let out a thoughtful breath through his nose.

"There, you pick for me---get two," he said with a nod, pulling out his wallet and hoping he had enough muggle money to cover the cost. He didn't think balloons could be too expensive, but Henry reckoned managing to twist them around without the balloon popping was a reasonably impressive skill.

He also motioned for two of the floating balloons as well, watching Heidi for a decision.

Well, that solved that problem for her. She told the man which two animals would be appropriate and then grinned, turning back toward Henry.

Oh, he was so very thoughtful. She tapped her nose a moment before she spoke. "Now the question is, which of these are you going to trust me to carry? I could send the balloons flying into the air only to never come down again, or I could fall flat on my face and pop the others." Or both at the same time, but that was a bit too horrifying to think about. She wasn't particularly clumsy, but it would be just her luck that something like that would happen on a date. She was sure that she was cursed.

He had a simple solution to this important quandary. He'd matched the colors of his floating balloons to the animals Heidi had picked (a poodle and an elephant, his imagination would've asked for a Slytherin snake) to have a set of sorts. Seeing as she'd picked both, Henry assumed Heidi liked both animals, so he just reached out and took the pink poodle from her (Leanne wore an alarming amount of pink) and swapped it for the purple balloon he was holding.

"No worries," he said, holding his items gently, "if you let them go or pop them, they'll be your own to mess up." Henry grinned, shrugging and making sure that he was able to handle his two balloons and still hold Heidi's hand.

What? He could not go get balloons and not get his girlfriend any! That would be ridiculous.

"So what you're saying is that you don't really trust me with either one as far as your niece's things are concerned," she teased lightly, giving him a bop on the arm with the purple elephant and then carefully looping the pink balloon around her wrist so that it wouldn't fly off into the sky. Then she'd feel really foolish, and not just because she'd feel like Henry had wasted his money.

She leaned in to kiss him chastely on the lips. "But thank you for the balloons. I'm sure that they'll go nicely on my desk at work." And if her boss had a problem with them, he could just ... take it up with her brother. It wasn't as if they'd be overly distracting to clients!

He smiled at the kiss. Henry really liked Heidi, there was nothing else to say about the fact. He just really liked her. She was funny, and smart, and quite relaxed when it came to just about everything! He'd invited her to the Magpies' celebration party and while some women he knew would've been absorbed at watching the celebrities mingling about, Heidi had been more than happy to just sit and talk with him all night.

It had been a long time since he'd gained someone's attention so fully, and Henry was quite determined not to lose her focus.

"It would liven up the place, for sure," he added. Henry squinted for a second in thought, "What time do you usually take lunch? I should be in London tomorrow..." He attempted to look casual as he asked the question, not wanting her to feel smothered, but if they were in the same area at the same time, why not take advantage of it?

Unless she needed space---but Henry figured she would let him know about that. Right?

Focusing on Henry had really been a lifesaver in the past few weeks. It wasn't as if she was still fully over losing her husband, after all, and making a big change like starting a new job had stresses of its own. She'd been able to mostly fend-off those stresses by spending time with Henry (and going to see that shrink that she'd been more or less forcibly referred to) about things.

The doctor was at least cautiously supportive of her dating again. If it helped her to get over and understand what she had gone through, great. He did remind her at least once a session that she couldn't just keep not giving him her last name and expect him to be all right with this, though. It wasn't as if it didn't say it on her nameplate at work, she'd just -- kept the nameplate mostly hidden behind paperwork whenever Henry had come in to see her.

She just wasn't ready to tell him everything about her past. Just thinking about Henry knowing about her little ... incident with Drystan made her want to faint with embarrassment.

"Around one, usually. I can't stay out for long tomorrow because we're super busy, but --" she smiled, "Lunch would be good."
