Narcissa wasn't due for another week, so when she started to feel the unpleasant pinch of contractions twinging through her lower abdomen, she'd put it down to Braxton Hicks contractions and tried to ignore them. She rubbed her stomach as she played with Valentine, wincing a little as a particular strong contraction ran through her. If she waited another hour Augustus would be home from work, and delivering the baby, if she got everyone all worked up now, would probably take that long anyway.

Another contraction hit, much closer than she'd been expecting, and Narcissa gasped in pain. Waiting would also slow down the drugs. "V-Val, can you use the Floo for Mummy?" Narcissa asked, closing her eyes and leaning back against the couch. "The baby is coming."

Valentine looked up at his Mummy, who looked like she wasn't very happy. His little mind immediately went to the thought of how he'd drawn on the wall earlier in the day. "Whas wrong, Mummy?"

Merlin had come home to visit Narcissa and had looked all over for her. When he walked into the room and saw her face, he frowned. "Narcissa? What's wrong?"

"The baby is coming," Narcissa said, squeezing her eyes shut for a moment as another contraction hit. At least she didn't have to ask Valentine to Floo people for help. She opened her eyes again and gave Merlin and Valentine a tentative smile. "I'll be all right. I just need a Healer and some potions for the pain. I've done it before."

She rubbed her stomach and pushed herself up from the couch, touching Valentine's hair and then reaching for Merlin's hand. "Help me to my room? I need you to Floo Hogwarts. Talk to Evan or Lucius and they'll do everything else and make sure Augustus knows. And someone needs to stay with Valentine."

"I'll make sure that Draco comes home so he can stay with his brother." Merlin promised her. He leaned in and kissed her softly on the lips, taking her hand into his own. He pulled her up in his arms and carried her to her room, placing her on the bed.

After turning to the floo, he called for everyone to come home and then took Narcissa's hand. "I didn't realise you were so far along."

Narcissa lay back against her pillows, laughing softly. "I never look as far along as I am," she said. "With Draco I looked about five months along at my biggest. I got slightly bigger with Augustus, but his father is build bigger than Lucius." She squeezed Merlin's hand as another contraction hit. "Fuck. This baby is impatient."

Lucius stepped out of the Floo and dusted himself off. His eyes lingered on Merlin and Narcissa's joint hands for a moment. Of course. "It's a good thing you came home, Merlin," he said. "Narcissa loses her head the second there's pain involved."

"Shut up, Lucius," Narcissa said, laughing breathlessly. "One day I'll turn you into a woman permanently and make you go through this. Where's Evan?"

Evan stepped through the floo and glanced at Merlin befoe he was at Narcissa's side. "We have some medi-wizards coming in to help you with the delivery. Augustus can't make it. His job won't let him leave and you're not his wife."

Merlin frowned at that and looked back at Evan. "That's preposterous." He informed him and then kissed Narcissa's forehead. "I'll get him home for you." He stepped away and walked to the floo.

Lucius moved to Narcissa's side, sitting on the edge of her bed. "Evan told me," he said. "Does he have any idea?"

It took Narcissa a moment to work out what Lucius was talking about. She frowned at him, and then at Evan. "No, I don't think so," she said. "Let's not talk about that. I have other things on my mind right now. Draco's supposed to come and look after Valentine."

"I'm here," Draco said, hovering in the doorway. One of the ghosts had come and pulled him out of class to tell him to go home, which was a little disturbing. He glance down at the small child in his mother's room. "You want me to look after Valentine? Are you okay?"

Narcissa was in pain, but she remembered how Draco had hovered when Valentine was born. "I'm fine," she said. "I've done it before. Take Valentine to your rooms. The house-elves will bring you food when it's time for him to eat. I --" Narcissa squeezed her eyes shut as another contraction hit. "I want pain potions."

Augustus ran from the floo as soon as his boss had let him come home, looking down at Narcissa and taking her hand. "I'm so sorry." He told her and kissed her forehead, smiling down at her. "I'm here now. How are you feeling?"

Rabastan walked into the room. "The Dark Lord asked me to come to oversee the delivery. How far apart are the contractions?"

Narcissa smiled up at Augustus. "Better now that you're here," she said. "I can't believe the baby's coming so soon. I --" She stopped as another contraction hit, then looked at Rabastan. "Between five and ten minutes. Do you have potions?"

Lucius sighed, leaning back against the wall. "I don't know why we have to get so worked up over this. You've done it twice before and Draco and Valentine got out of there just fine."

"Of course I do." Rabastan pulled out the potion and pressed it against her lips. He looked down at her belly, wondering how her stomach was so small when she was carrying Augustus's baby. He'd seen Macnair births.

Augustus smiled down at her as she drank the potion, then glanced at Lucius. "We're hoping for a girl this time."

Narcissa took the potion eagerly, resting a hand on her stomach and looking at Rabastan. "Thank you," she said, relaxing as the pain that came with the contractions dimmed to mild discomfort. She loved her children, but she really didn't like this part of it. "How long do you think we have to wait?"

"Are you?" Lucius asked, raising an eyebrow at Augustus. He doubted he had any notion that the baby could belong to someone else. He looked so happy to be there. "You haven't had the test done? I had it done on Draco as soon as Narcissa got pregnant."

Draco wasn't sure what you were supposed to do with small children. He was just kind of staring at Valentine and hoping that having a baby didn't take too long. He cleared his throat. "So, are you looking forward to having a little brother or sister?"

"I don't know. I have to do a few spells." Rabastan smiled at her and pulled out his wand. He did a few tests and her stomach was glowing pink. He smiled at her, watching as a few more tests were ran. "You'll be ready soon enough. This isn't your first pregnancy. The baby is very healthy. Good job."

Augustus shook his head. "I've already got a son." He told him with a shrug. "We wanted to be surprised this time." He did, at least.

Valentine looked up at Draco and shook his head. "No." He told him, starting to play with his stuffed duck. "Babies aw stupid. I onwy like you."

Narcissa smiled at Rabastan, touching her stomach. Of course she'd done a good job. "Good," she said. "I don't mind if it's a boy or a girl as long as it's healthy. I've had a feeling it might be a girl, though. Augustus wants a girl." Even if she also had a feeling it wasn't actually his child.

Lucius nodded, glancing at Narcissa on the bed and her happy little stoned smile. "Hopefully having the baby keeps her busy during the day. I was thinking of getting Valentine a friend. There are some Veela children Evan mentioned. Do you think he'd like one of those?"

Draco laughed at that. "Well," he said. "Obviously you're smart. You'll have to pretend to like the baby when it comes. I'll be your little brother or sister. You're my little brother and I like you." Probably. So far.

"You're having a girl." Rabastan whispered quietly and winked at her. He did a few more scans and then moved to the edge of the bed, casting a spell so that sheets moved into place to cover her up. "This baby is ready, Narcissa. Are you ready?"

"I think Valentine would love a friend. I'm sure he gets lonely." Augustus nodded, then glanced at Narcissa and squeezed her hand. "Are you going to be okay, my love?"

Valentine shook his head. "Mummy won't pay attention to me anymore. Merman alweady told me."

A girl. Narcissa smiled at Rabastan and then looked at Augustus. "I'm ready," she said. "I want to meet our baby. I --" She tightened her grip on Augustus's hand when another contraction rippled through her, although the potion took most of the edge off it. "I want to push."

Draco frowned a little. "Of course she will," he said. "I don't think Merlin knows what he's talking about when it comes to this. She's going to love you no matter what. Trust me, Valentine. She's my mother too. Mum would do anything for her children."

"Okay, baby. Just like we practiced." Augustus smiled at her and leaned in to kiss her softly on the cheek. "Breathe in and then bear down. You're going to do good."

Merlin was confused. He didn't know how the whole birthing process worked. He stood beside Rabastan as he watched him work, looking at something he'd once been inside. How as it going to come out of there?

Valentine looked up at his brother and smiled at him. "Do you really think so?"

Narcissa nodded, focusing on her breathing and then pushing the next time a contraction hit her. "Oh God, why do they always have to be so big?" She squeezed Augustus's hand tighter. "It hurts."

"Of course," Draco said. He felt a bit offended on his mother's behalf. She'd stood by him and his father through everything in the other world. Just because she was happier here didn't mean she was a worse mother. "It wouldn't matter if she were having triplets. She'd still love us just as much as she always has."

"I'm sorry, baby." Augustus let her squeeze his hand and smiled at her. "Squeeze my hand as hard as you can. I'll make it all better. I promise." He told her, then kissed her forehead. "Push again."

Valentine smiled at his brother and nodded. "Do you wanna pway with Dilbert?" He asked, holding out the stuffed duck.

Narcissa did as she was told, crying out and tightening her grip on Augustus's hand as she pushed. She couldn't imagine ever doing this without drugs. What were people thinking?

Lucius wrinkled his nose, shifting closer to Evan and away from the bottom half of the room. "Part of me thinks I should move Merlin to wait with Draco and Valentine," he told Evan, voice low. "But maybe if he sees a baby coming out of her, he won't want to try and put another one in her."

"Dilbert?" Draco repeated. He moved, sitting on the floor beside Valentine and taking the stuffed duck from him. He wiggled it at Valentine's face. "Why is he called Dilbert? I had a stuffed dragon, you know."

Rabastan did his work, slowly working the head of the baby as it slid out. He grabbed it and gave it a slap as it began to scream. He laughed and cleaned it's mouth out quickly, then stared down at the baby before he held it up for Narcissa.

Augustus looked down at the baby that Rabastan was holding. A frown fell on his face. Jet black hair, paler skin and large, grey eyes. He looked at Narcissa, giving her a hurt look. There was no way it was his child.

Merlin looked down at the baby for a moment. It was the most gorgeous thing he'd ever seen in his life. He smiled the biggest smile, but then it faded and he was staring at Narcissa in horror.

"Oh shit." Evan sighed softly and ran a hand through his hair.

"Charlie?" Valentine asked as he giggled and swatted at Dilbert. "You wouldn't let me play wif him."

Narcissa took her daughter from Rabastan, smiling as she touched her little face. She was doing her best not to think about the way she looked. How obvious it was that this baby didn't belong to Augustus.

She held her to her chest and looked up at Augustus. "I..." Narcissa wasn't sure what to say. She still ached and she was a bit woozy from the pain potion and she'd just given birth. She was determined not to look at Merlin. "I thought it was a girl this time."

Oh shit was right. Lucius stared at the baby on Narcissa's chest. There was no use even pretending everyone in the room didn't know she wasn't Augustus's daughter, even if, hopefully, some of them hadn't figured our who her real father was yet.

"Charlie?" Draco repeated, surprised. His dragon was named Draco. How had he managed to name his stuffed dragon after a dragon tamer he'd snog later in life? Time travel was weird. "Yeah," he agreed. "Charlie. Maybe we can get you a stuffed dragon of your own. To play with Dilbert."

Augustus stared down at Narcissa. He was doing his best not to cry as he looked at her with the baby, with it's features. When it became too difficult for him to handle, he turned and left the room, unable to look at her any longer.

Merlin moved to Narcissa's side, but still felt very shocked about it. "I-" He bit his jaw. "She's beautiful, Narcissa. She's just so.. beautiful."

Valentine smiled at Draco and stood up, walking over so he could hug him. He wrapped his arms around his brother's neck. "You are the best." He told him. "My brutha. Mummy isn't crying anymore."

Narcissa was trembling as she watched Augustus leave the room. She looked at Merlin for a moment, then up at Lucius. "Lucius, please --"

Lucius rolled his eyes at Narcissa, but nodded and followed Augustus out of the room, touching his shoulder. "She's an idiot, but I think she does love you," he told him.

Narcissa ran her fingers gently over her daughter's tuft of black hair and looked at Merlin again. "She's perfect," she agreed. "Would you... like to hold her?"

Draco hugged Valentine back, even if he found the whole thing a little surprising. "I like you too," he told him, patting his back. "I -- wait. What do you mean, Mummy isn't crying anymore? Was she crying?"

Augustus was having a break down by the time Lucius touched his shoulder. He closed his eyes and looked back at him, his eyes red. "No. She doesn't love me, Lucus. She's fucking someone else. She's... Is she fucking Tom?"

Merlin smiled at her and took the baby into his arms, looking down at her. "Is she mine?" He asked, his voice a whisper.

"Mummy cries sometimes." Valentine looked back at Draco. "She worries about you."

"Tom?" Lucius repeated, giving Augustus a surprised look. "She -- no, of course not." He pulled a face. "Tom is one of the gayest men I've ever met. He doesn't even like being in the same country as his own wife." He wasn't sure what he should say to Augustus, if he was being honest. Narcissa fucking Merlin was... Merlin and Draco were supposed to get married one day, as much as Lucius disliked the idea. Who else had black hair and the looks necessary for this baby? "I don't think she's fucking anyone regularly, but... there is Sirius. She spends a lot of time with him."

Narcissa looked at Merlin at her -- their -- daughter for a moment. He looked so young, holding a baby. She was so stupid. "Yes," she whispered back. "She is."

Draco did his best not to show Valentine that that worried him. "But she's stopped crying now?" he asked, hopefully. "She doesn't need to worry about me. I'm fine." Things were so much better here than they had been. Her crying about him at home had made sense. Things weren't perfect here, but they were so much easier.

"Sirius?" Augustus sounded disgusted and he shook his head. "Sirius Black? Her first cousin? I... That's..." He sighed and wiped at his eyes. "I'm leaving her."

Merlin looked at the tiny baby, then brought her up and sniffed her hair. Even if she was still covered with a little bit of gunk, then kissed her tiny forehead. "Can I help name her?"

"Sometimes she cries. But, she stopped crying." Valentine promised. "Can we go see the baby now?"

Lucius opened his mouth to protest Augustus's decision, but what could he say? Narcissa had just given birth to someone else's child. "Do you think you should calm down and think this through?" he asked, after a moment. "You and Narcissa have a child together."

Narcissa glanced at the door, where Augustus had gone, and then back at Merlin. She wasn't sure Augustus was coming back. "Yes," she said, reaching out and touching the baby's hair. "Of course you can."

No one had come to get them, but Draco could check the room before he let Valentine see anything. "We can try," he said. He scooped Valentine and Dilbert into his arms and walked down the hall to his mother's room. Nobody was screaming, so he walked in, eyes immediately going to the baby in Merlin's arm. "It's here?" he asked. "Is it a boy or a girl?" He carried Valentine to the bed and set him down on the edge of it.

"You and Narcissa have a child together." Augustus told him and shook his head. "I've been with her since I was seventeen. And she's done this to me. I've always been faithful to her."

Merlin smiled at that and nodded. "Well. What sort of names have you thought about?" He asked as he ran his fingers over her hair, then passed the baby back to Narcissa. He turned his look at Draco. "She's a girl."

"Narcissa and I are married and I'm gay," Lucius said. He ran a hand through his hair and then nodded, looking away from Augustus. "I only came after you because she asked me to. I can't think of anything I could say that would make up for what she did."

"None, really," Narcissa said. She didn't want to use one of the names she and Augustus had come up with together if he was going to leave her. She smiled as she took her daughter back. "Something as pretty as she is." Narcissa looked up at Valentine. "Valentine, come here. Come meet your sister."

A girl. Draco hadn't expected that, for some reason. He looked at Merlin. "I can't believe you stayed for the whole thing," he said, laughing softly. "She's so small. Her hair is so dark."

Augustus glanced at Lucius for a moment and shook his head. "You stay with her because you have to. Because you're afraid of your father. Why would I want to be with her when she can't be with only me?"

Valentine looked at his Mummy and then the baby. "She's got black hair." He said, reaching out and petting her as if she was a cat.

Merlin gave Draco a guilty look. "She.. Yeah." He nodded. "And she's pale. Grey eyes. Like you."

Lucius didn't think of himself as afraid of his father. He just preferred if the world didn't know he was gay. Tom went on being married to Christina, even though he was... Well, Lucius didn't like to think about it too much. "I don't know," he said. "You don't have to stay with her if you don't want to. It's not like you're married to her."

Narcissa smiled at Valentine petting his sister and nodded. "She does," she agreed. "Do you think it'll be curly like yours?" She shifted so she could cuddle Valentine to her side, kissing the top of his head. "We're going to be happy together, aren't we? Mummy loves you and the new baby so much."

"She's gorgeous. I tried to warm Valentine up to the idea of having a little sister. Why did you tell him Mother wouldn't pay attention to him anymore? Of course she will." Draco looked down at his mother and the baby again. She didn't look very much like Augustus, did she? Which reminded him. "Where's Augustus? I thought you were going to make his boss let him leave."

"I love her." Augustus shook his head and began to cry again. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. "I don't know what to do. How can I be with her now?"

"I don't know, Mummy." Valentine looked down at the baby and frowned. "I don't wanna be not special. I has curls that are special."

"He was here until she arrived." Merlin told him, giving him another guilty look. "The baby isn't his."

Augustus needed to make up his mind, that was what he needed to do. Lucius ran a hand through his hair. "I don't know," he said. "Evan's never cheated on me." Although, if Lucius was honest, he would never leave Evan anyway. "If you can't be around the child, you shouldn't have to be. You're not responsible for it. Someone else is."

"Baby, you're always going to be special," Narcissa said, smiling at Valentine and running her fingers through his curly hair. She kissed the top of his head. "Your curls are gorgeous, but they're not what makes you special." She looked down at her daughter again. "I don't think she'll have curly hair. I think it'll be straight like Mummy's and Draco's."

"The --" Draco stared at Merlin for a moment, then looked down at the baby in his mother's arms. "What?" He frowned, looking back at Merlin. "Do you know whose it is? Has she said? Who else could it belong to?" His mother was sleeping around?

Valentine looked down at the baby for a moment, then leaned in and kissed the baby on the forehead. "What are you naming her, Mummy?" He asked, smiling up at her.

Merlin sighed softly. He couldn't lie to Draco. He ran a hand through his hair. "She's mine." He replied and then shook his head. "She's mine and... I don't know. What to do. I'm sorry."

"I don't know yet," Narcissa said, smiling when Valentine kissed her forehead. "Maybe you could help name her. Merlin's going to help too." Narcissa kissed the little girl as well. "What sort of name do you think would suit her?"

"She --" Draco stared at Merlin and then glanced at his mother and the baby. The black hair, the pale skin. "Fuck. You..." He frowned, grabbing Merlin's arm and tugging him a way's away from his mother's bed and Valentine. "You fucked my mother?"

Valentine looked down at the baby. "Snow." He told his Mother as he looked up at her and smiled. "She looks like Snow White. And she's beautiful."

"She-" Merlin looked back at Draco. And then it happened. He burst into tears and he turned away, banging his head against the wall. "A couple of times. She... Fuck."

Narcissa hummed softly, looking down at the baby. "She does, doesn't she? She'll be our little princess." She smiled back at Valentine. "I think that would be a very nice name for her. We'll have to see what Merlin thinks too."

Draco hadn't expected the tears and he really hadn't expected Merlin to bang his head against the wall like that. He grabbed him, pulling him away from the wall before he could do anymore damage. "Stop it! Christ, Merlin. Just... use your words."

Valentine smiled at that and nodded. "Snow. I like the name Snow." He told her and then pet at the baby again. "Do I have to share Dilbert?" He asked, giving her a very serious look. Draco didn't have to share Charlie.

"I don't know how." Merlin snapped and looked at Draco. He closed his eyes and wiped at them. "Fuck. I found out about you and Charlie and I was upset. And she just... made me feel better."

Narcissa laughed softly. "Of course not," she said. "Dilbert is all yours, Valentine. We'll get Snow a toy of her own. You can help pick it out for her and maybe Snow will get you a present too. For being such a good brother."

Draco pursed his lips, stepping back. It wasn't like he had feelings for Merlin. Not really. They'd only just met and, before Merlin showed him his memories, everything he'd heard or seen about the other boy had been less than favourable. It was just that he'd slept with his mother and then impregnated her.

"Right," he said. "You... Fuck." He was not used to dealing with this kind of thing. No one was used to dealing with this kind of thing. "Well... don't do it again, all right?" "I'm sorry." And he really was. Merlin stared back at Draco for a moment, wanting to crawl in somewhere and just die. He'd never meant to hurt Draco and he felt like he had. Like he'd really hurt him. He closed his eyes and sighed, then wrapped his arms around the other boy.

"I know you're not my Draco." He whispered, then kissed Draco's temple. "But, I love you. And I just... I fucked everything up."

Draco sighed, resting his forehead on Merlin's shoulder for a moment. He still didn't really feel connected to anyone but Pansy here. Even his family. He'd barely seen his father, because apparently even a whole new universe couldn't change some things, and now his mother was sleeping with Draco's... boyfriend, essentially. She'd probably known he wasn't happy about the engagement, but still.

"This time travel thing fucking sucks," he said. He pulled away from Merlin. "Let's go see the baby again. Before Valentine convinces my mother to name it something to match Dilbert."
