A date with a diamond...and nine guys on the field
After the Empress, and Tessa showing up, and getting changed into and out of a female, a ball game was just the normal sort of activity that Misha needed. It was time for all real Mets fans to come together for the season opener.

Misha presented himself at the reception desk in the Baxter Building and asked for Andrea to be told the Dork of Russia was there.

A few minutes later, Andrea came down, complete with her ballcap and Mets jersey.

"Hello, Misha," she said as she exited the elevator.

Kristoff steps up beside Roberta's desk as well, and nods politely to Misha. "If there are any difficulties or delays getting home afterward, please let us know," he reminds Andrea. To Misha. "Please excuse the paranoia, but I expect you can understand."

"Yes," Misha said with a nod. Paranoia right now was completely understandable. "I'll take care of Andrea like she was my own sister." He smiled reassuringly at the other man. "And I have some real kickass sisters."

"I will take care, Kristoff," Andrea assured him. "And keep you in the know."

A miniscule smile to Misha. "So I am aware."

"Thank you." A hand briefly on Andrea's shoulder. "I hope you Americans enjoy your incomprehensible pastime." And he'll leave them to it.

Misha adjusted his ball cap as he watched Kristoff walk away. "At least he didn't say the Mets were a waste of time." He turned a grin to Andrea and offered his arm. "Darlene's waiting and the tickets came with good parking."

Andrea took his arm. "Kristoff may not understand baseball, but he respects our interest in it," she told Misha.

She smiled. "Then let us be off."

Darlene streamed the baseball pre-game radio show for them on the drive to Citi Field. It would never be Shea Stadium, but since there wasn't a choice, Misha was happy to follow the team to their new digs.

Some embassy handler must have sent word ahead when Misha updated his Romanov sitters on his plans as they were met and escorted in to enjoy the pre-game entertainment. An invitation to meet the team at the after-game was given and accepted.

The requisite new jerseys were purchased (Misha had one from every year since he was eight and morphed their biggest kid fan), as well as drinks and real stadium hotdogs, and the players were on the field warming up as they finally took their seats.

"I'm going to have to congratulate Anya on seat selections. She chose well this year."

The loss of Shea Stadium was a tragic thing. Both Mr. Grimm and her father had been very upset by it, as had she. But life progressed.

"She did very well," Andrea agreed. "My father sometimes purchases a private box, but this much more preferable."

"Anya's dad has a box but I like it down here a lot better, too." He settled back in his hard plastic seat. They had a great view from behind home plate. "Dad can't sit still in a baseball game. They don't move fast enough for him."

"His loss then," Andrea said. "I find it most perfect."
