Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
september 26th, 1997; written during study hall
So what do you during Study Hall if you don't have any homework to do? I'm kind of bored right now and there's nothing to do. I was singing like ten minutes ago but Professor Snape didn't seem to appreciate it... he said that I was disrupting everyone. I'm sorry if it bothered you! I'm just... really bored! And then I remembered my journal! I haven't opened this thing in a few days because, honestly, I had forgotten I had it. I've been forgetting a lot of things, lately, like the fact that I bought new pairs of socks last week and yet I didn't put any on today because I thought I didn't have any... sometimes I really hate having the attention span of a pygmy puff.

I like these journals. I can keep record of what happens to me and hey! I can maybe keep a list of things I need to do, so if I forget something, I can always come back and read the list and remember! Except, well, if I forget about the list I'm kind of doomed, aren't I? This is too complicated!

Anyway, anyway... I was just reading through my journal and I remembered about this dream I had last night. I don't know why most of my dreams are related to movies, but they are and it's wicked, specially when I'm part of the movie, you know? Like, okay, last night I dreamt of Jack Skellington! And don't laugh at me, but I think I was Sally... except I wasn't sewn all over and nor were my arms falling off or anything like that, so I'm not quite sure. But yeah, we were walking around what I presume was Christmas Town because it was snowing, you know? And Zero was there, too and then I don't remember anymore...

I'M SO BORED. Hey Justin, I can see the back of your head. Why are you sitting so far away? What are you working on? Can I help?

I have nothing else to say. That's... horrible! I'm going to doodle now. Maybe time will go by faster then!

Unless you constantly forfeit sleep to get it done, there's no possible way you have no homework to do. Exactly how many classes are you taking?

Also, you do realise that the 'Nightmare Before Christmas' references are going to go completely over the heads of the half of the student body who have little idea of Muggle pop culture? Just saying.

Uh, just four... and I really have no homework! The essay I had to write for Muggle Studies was really, really easy and I finished it last night before going to bed.

Most of them ignore Oh yeah, no. I know. They could ask if they want to know, though! Have you seen the movie, then? Do you like it?

Well I'm sitting far away for two very good reason. 1) I didn't see you when I sat down. And 2) I didn't think you'd want distractions from your singing.

But yes, I've just finished my Arithmancy homework. I'm now going to either start preparing a list of spells for my two charm's pupils to practice - or...maybe read a chapter of this book Professor Babbling gave me. You could come and do dictation while I multitask if you'd like. Not very exciting though.

Would I be a distraction? I don't want to distract you. Unlike me, you've important things to do! What is that book about?

Eh, it's another book about how runes have an influence on curse breaking. Interesting stuff if you're into it - boring if you're not.

And you wouldn't be distracting. Plus, if you wrote down the list I could pretend I was crazy cool and able to read and compile lists at the same time. You'd really only be helping me in the factor of making me look good.

Yeah, no. That does sound boring.

And I can do that! All for the sake of making you look wicked awesome.

Jack! You actually remind me a bit of Sally so it's all good. And those doodles are amazing, dear Melanie.

I could go over there? I'm supposed to be working on a History of Magic essay but I'm just making paper cranes and dreading whenever Snape comes over. I don't know what we could do for fun though.

I remind you of a zombie cartoon? But I'm not sewn all over! And thank you, Stewart, you're a doll ♥

Isn't Snape totally terrifying? And I know what we could do! We could go raid the kitchens... you still owe me a cup of hot chocolate!

Do you think they'd notice if I went over there and we both ran? And I'm sorry about the other night I couldn't make it past the common room! Karston takes his job a bit too seriously.

And yes, yes he is.

It depends, how fast can you run?

And don't worry. I got rather busy that night! This second year got sick all over her robes and I had to take her to the infirmary. I'm Hogwarts ambulance now, apparently.

Pretty fast! I used to participate in track and field at my old school, but before I get ahead of myself, one question: do you think he'd stun us? Would he actually stun us? I wouldn't put it past him. It is Snape, after all.

And what's with everyone being near you while getting sick? It's getting ridiculous.

I think he would, actually. I'm not liking this idea, anymore. I'm not a good runner, you know? And with my luck, I'll probably trip and fall before getting too far from the table. How long 'til Study Hall is over?

I don't know! Do you think it's me?

Twenty, Thirty minutes? It can't be much longer- I'm starving! They can't keep us here all night.

And if you were to trip I'd pick you up, though you're right, it's best to stay put until our time's up.

And it's probably not you, just the fact that people feel bad when they're near you? You're like a magnet! Only... with sick people.

Thirty minutes is too much! This is torture. They're TORTURING us!

Yeah, but if I trip and you waste time picking me up, your chances of getting out alive are slim to none. So staying put it is!

I know! That's what I say all the time! I attract bad things! Like Vaisey, for example

Mel, you are delightful and insane. I love the Nightmare before Christmas, one of my muggle friends showed it to me a couple of Christmases ago, and I loved it! She has a handbag with Jack on it, and I WANT one. Just for the novelty factor, you know?

And risk professor Snape giving me detention? No, thank you.
