Kestrels FTW!
Axe had called a meeting, though was he really allowed to call a meeting if he was suspended until after the next match? Charlie of course did not question this, because when you questioned Axebanger, you usually got hit rather hard with the blunt end of a broom. Believe Charlie, it had happened on more than one occasion. It had taken him a few times to learn his lesson, but he had, and was now currently standing against his locker, waiting for Axe to arrive.

He eyed his teammates carefully. They'd lost the match, yeah, but the fight had sparked something on the straws of their brooms, so to speak. Axe had a reputation, yeah, but if you wanted to succeed in this game, you had to support your leader. No one was going to randomly attack Axe and not hear about it from the other Kestrels, Charlie was sure.

"Ten galleons says Zoey captains next match," Charlie said only somewhat jokingly. He could definitely see Axe naming the youngest as captain to teach them all a lesson. She'd probably do a good job at it, though, Charlie reckoned.

The locker room doors slammed open, and he winced; Le Capitaine had arrived.

He was in a right fucking mood.

Some (namely his teammates) might say that Axe was in a right fucking mood all the days of all the weeks, but this was a special case.

He should have known better. But he did not want to know better, he growled to himself. What he wanted was a finishing whack at the crazed instigator. And over what—some lousy fille he didn't really remember without a little prodding. Axe shook his head in disgust.

Kicking the door shut behind him, he folded his arms and glared thunderously at the various bodies against the lockers with his braced nose and half-healed black eye. Axe thought such a look communicated Not one word quite effectively.

"Management," he began, pinching the mostly-undamaged bridge of his nose gingerly as he closed his eyes, "as I'm sure you've all heard, as seen fit to—suspend me, at least for the next match. Turning on his heel abruptly, he began to pace, moving his hands vigorously. "Now, don't think I didn't ask for the reserve to do it, but my orders were clear. So one of you louses fills in for me in the meanwhile." He clenched his jaw, cutting his teeth on the words as he spat out, "Interim—captain."

Axe dismissed as he strode up the line, "Moran—too impressionable, Peakes—no on principle. Broadmoor—too nice." He stopped short in front of Felicia and Charlie, eyeing them critically. "That leaves you two."

She couldn't necessarily blame Axe for being moody, all things considered. And yes, she was aware that she was going to be a candidate for the captaincy just because she was probably one of the few people on the team that didn't immediately get on his nerves. That didn't mean she wasn't going to be a tad smug about it, especially since he was apparently skipping over Kendall -- who she did think would do a god job, even if he was a little nice.

"I'm glad that you've come to at least a half-wise decision, Axe." She leaned back so that her palms rested against the back of the bench she was sitting on, brow arched. "How are you going to make your decision? May I suggest hand-to-hand combat." Because she was pretty certain that if nothing else, that would be entertaining.

Kendall just rose his brow as Axe passed right over him. Not that he really cared. He had no desire what-so-ever to be interim captain. Because who ever was interim captain had to deal with Axe even more than the rest of them when he came back. No thank you.

But he did care about who took over when it came between Felicia and Charlie. He really really hoped maturity was going to be a contributing factor.

But it was Axe so probably not. Joy.

"I vote Bulstrode if you care at all."

With a frown at the rising voices, Axe waved his hand impatiently for silence. It almost sounded like they were starting to enjoy this. Or believe their views would at all account for his decision. Unacceptable!

"I don't," he started in. "Oh, hand-to-h—no! Goo—but no," but he was definitely taking that into account for next time. "This is a big decision. Bulstrode would be de facto captain, but I am irrationally upset and displacing anger at her for not initially unseating the bastard and thereby preventing all this—" he gestured wildly in front of him for a moment—"situation. Fiasco. So—" Axe waved his hand dismissively at Charlie, "you get your lucky shot. And this decision will be made as all the greatest and most difficult of decisions have been made."

Fishing in the depths of his robe pockets, he pulled out and held up for all to see a shiny silver Sickle. "Heads—Bulstrode gets it, tails—Spinnet."

Flipping it casually in the air, he slapped it down on the back of his hand and paused a moment for good, dramatic measure. Lifting his palm from his extended hand, he glanced down.

Axe's jaw dropped. "Oh—"

Charlie craned his neck, and by the pale look of Axe's face knew that he was seeing the coin correctly. That was tails, that was totally, absolutely tails, and THAT meant the he was the captain for a week, "OH YEAH!"

He stepped forward with his arms out wide to his side, nodding in approval and with his face looking so smug. Charlie had never thought of himself as the leader type, but to win over his teammates who were constantly teasing him for his self-admittedly childish ways was just too good to pass up. He was going to show them just how serious he could be, while having a ton of fun torturing them with monotonous workouts and embarrassing team building activities. They all knew Axe would be back after this weekend's match, so how much of a grudge could they really hold against him?

To make his point, though, that he was going to abuse this new power, Charlie hopped up onto the bench that laid down the middle of the locker room. He put a hand to his stomach and bowed, looking as far away from humble that a person could.

"I promise to use and abuse this title to the greatest of my abilities," he said with a grin, straightening and looking around at the Kestrels, "And I'll make sure to be just as much of a hard-ass as Axe, so you don't miss him too much."
