Hogsmeade Weekend!
"I'm keeping an eye on you!" Professor McGonagall shouted at a group of mischievious looking Gryffindors. Always her Gryffindors. What the woman would do for one group of well-behaved young men. Was that so hard to ask for?

Minerva really hated Hogsmeade weekend. Instead of being excited for their studies, getting an education and becoming proper young wizards and witches, all these students wanted to do was snog at Madam Puddifoot's or buy some tricks at Zonko's. And she, just like every year, had to play chaperon. With a great big sigh, Minerva dropped down into a sit beside Filius, and across from Pomona. Those two always managed to have a splendid time on the weekends, and eying the poorly conceived bottle of firewhisky under Filius' cloak, Minerva now understood why.

"I do hope you intend on sharing some of that with your Gryffindor counterpart, Filius," she said snootily, waving her glass toward the Charms professor.

OOC: OKAY, this is meant to just be a general post---any time/year could take place in the comments, the common theme is just HOGSMEADE WEEKEND. So...the person who starts the thread would put MONTH, YEAR. Weekends are like...third weekend of each month? So have fun :)

Spring of '76 - Danielle and Donovan
[info]impulse
2011-03-15 03:08 am UTC (link)
Donovan was beginning to think that Danielle would never cave in to the suggestion of leaving her schoolwork behind to come to Hogsmeade with most of the 7th year kids who wanted some time away from the castle. Hogwarts was awesome, there was no getting around that, but they needed a change of scenery every now and again. The last little push he tried to make to convince her to meet him in front of The Hogs Head, was leaving her a folded note in her textbook that said these words:

‘It’s not the same, without you.’

He hoped that would be enough, but he hadn’t heard word from her before they had to board the carriages. He sat with the usual crew – that crew consisting of Gabriel Corner, Rafe Kirke, and Jonas Ackerly. They were practically an enigma at Hogwarts, something that shouldn’t be but was; a group of friends, each from a different house, and of different bloodlines. By all means, Donovan probably should have avoided them like the plague, but he was friends with Gabriel first, a high status pureblood like himself, and met the other two through him.

He had always been closest with the Gryffindor…which was another oddity for Slytherins.

Hopping off the carriage, he walked with the guys towards the bar where he was supposed to meet Danni. The weather was getting warmer, so they stood around outside, making idle chatter while Donovan waited, to see if his girlfriend of almost 4 years would come for one of their last trips to Hogsmeade. He had his back against the wall, facing the walkway that lead to the bar, giving him a good view of who was coming.

He was in the middle of talking to Rafe when he caught sight of a blonde haired figure standing just behind him. His vision traveled over to the beautiful blonde, making eye contact before he looked away from her to acknowledge whatever Rafe had been going on about.

“Yeah. Absolutely.”

He could hear Jonas snicker, seeing how his reply made it clear that he wasn’t really listening, but it was Gabriel who finally looked around, saw Danielle, and turned back to the other three to usher them inside. Donovan gave his friend an appreciative smirk before he too entered the bar, but not before giving Danielle a wave. Once it was just the two of them, Donovan gave her all his attention.

“You came.”

He eased away from the wall using his elbows, taking slow steps towards her, though he left some room for her to come to him.

“I was beginning to think your books had gotten the best of your attention.”

From what she figured, the students had to be back before seven, which meant that she would be back in Ravenclaw tower by at the latest seven thirty, and that meant she would have...eight thirty, nine thirty, ten thirty...eleven, three and a half hours of studying before she had to go to bed, to make sure she got the proper amount of sleep needed. Tomorrow was Sunday, of course, which meant she had the six hours of class periods free and could fill them with the Arthimancy study guides she'd written over the last weekend, but---the weekends, as Donovan, Erin, and the rest of her roommates had explained, were not meant for schoolwork.

Well, they were, but not as serious of an amount as Danielle was used to working on. This idea satisfied her, and while she hadn't allowed herself to leave the Ravenclaw tower until the last possible second to catch a carriage, she had known from early this morning that she would be visiting Hogsmeade with Donovan. It was the smart thing to do, the best thing to do, and the nicest thing to do.

Plus, if she recalled correctly, her N.E.W.T.s schedule had not allotted them much time for kissing, or anything else, for that matter, and she really did like kissing him.

"I worked twice as hard to make sure that I finished what I wanted to get done, to make sure I made it to where I wanted to go," she said with a happy nod, her hands reaching out and grabbing his, pulling herself toward him. Danielle smiled, straightening her shoulders and lifting her chin, looking for a kiss, "Are you proud of me?"

Donvan’s eyes crinkled at the sides as he gave her a crooked smirk, reaching out to take her hands, pulling her further towards him as he listened to her explain her thought process to him. It never ceased to amaze him, how wound up she got when it came to her schoolwork, though he didn’t expect much less from a Ravenclaw, though Corner never seemed to be nearly as obsessive compulsive as his girlfriend. Her question warranted another smirk which, once again, cut a little deeper into one cheek than the other, leaning forward to press a soft kiss to her lips.

“Very.”

He mumbled his reply against her lips, his fingers lacing with hers.

“I feel like I haven’t seen you in days…”

Another soft kiss to emphasize the fact that he had missed her, even though it wasn’t directly stated. In truth, they hadn’t seen each other for a few days, since they both had a lot of work to catch up on, and he had Head Boy responsibilities to tend to. They went to see each other when they could, like a quick hello at meal times (okay, so he saw her for a little while each day, but they hadn’t had any real quality time), but for the most part their schedules had been rather hectic.

She refrained from telling Donovan that they had just seen each other this morning at breakfast, because Danielle knew exactly what he really meant. It was rare that she was able to decipher his comments, very rare when it was a sarcastic one or a joke, so she once again felt a surge of pride in herself. Danielle understood all too well what he meant right now. Kissing Donovan was something she loved to do, and it had been an easy decision to get her studying done for this time with him.

"I know, I'll try to arrange my schedule better," she said with a firm nod, promising to revise her agenda early in the morning so to not waste any time. Danielle smiled and swung their hands back and forth, content with just standing pressed against Donovan, but knowing that his friends would be catcalling from the window soon and that grew annoying quite quickly.

"What do you want to do?" She kissed him again, quickly, before he could answer. She could kiss him all day if she could, if they had a place to avoid the teasing.

She wasn’t the only one who was waiting for the hollering and the whistling his friends would undoubtedly provide if they were standing around for too long holding hands and kissing. Donovan wasn’t the type of person who could be classified as a ‘romantic’, or a sap, but there was something about Danielle that made his stomach flip in the most pleasant of ways. He supposed some might classify that feeling as getting ‘butterflies’, but he had never been a fan of that particular analogy. Always seemed off-putting to him, for some reason.

Her question warranted a hum of thought, even though he didn’t have to do much thinking considering he already knew what he wanted to do. He nudged her nose with his, his fingers toying with hers as he moved to speak low against her ear.

“Run away…”

He pressed his lips against the area of her neck below her ear, right at the edge of her jaw before his hold on her hands became a bit more secure, kissing her lips once more to silence her from protesting, or telling him that they couldn’t run away or else they might be late for the carriage ride back. He just wanted to be a little young and reckless, and enjoy one of the last trips to Hogsmeade they would have while they were still at Hogwarts.

“Come…I have something I want to show you.”

Without any more word about where he was taking her to ‘run away’, he backed away from her, dropping one of his hands while keeping his other entwined with hers. If he had his way, they would run away and never come back – avoid all the drama that came along with their families and friends judging them for being together, despite all the factors that were working against them – but he knew that wasn’t possible. This would have to do, this temporary escape from all their responsibilities.

Run away. The words sent shivers through her, knocking away most of her common sense. Her first thought was yes!, but a second later she knew he was just teasing to get her crazy. Donovan was so, so good at riling her up, and making her act differently than she ever did, so it was hard to resist him. Danielle let out a surprised sound as he pulled her along, and she grabbed onto her hat with her free hand to make sure it didn't fly away with their quick pace.

Run away, run away. Danielle knew she should cherish their time in Hogwarts because the second they left the safety of the castle's walls, the real world would swallow them whole. His family disapproved of their relationship, of her and it pained her to no end, the trouble she brought him. Danielle knew that he made the fights he had with his parents seem like they didn't hurt him, but how could they not?

Maybe they should run away. Life would be so much easier, wouldn't it? But then she'd never become a healer, and he wouldn't go on to run the ministry, and she'd miss her brother, and he'd miss his---

Danielle gripped onto her hat, looking more intrigued and confused as to where they were going than excited. She liked surprises, once she knew what the surprise actually was.

"Is it far?" Maybe if she played the twenty-question game Donovan liked teasing her with---or, well, limiting her to.

He was often times tempted to remind her that the whole point of a surprise was to be left in the dark, but he was too aware of the fact that he himself wasn’t a big fan of surprises, and felt like a hypocrite when he expected her to not ask any questions. He turned to look over his shoulder at her, making sure they weren’t being followed as he guided her down a pathway that she had most likely never traveled down before – or, he hoped she hadn’t, since it lead to what he wanted to show her at the end. It was far enough away from the rest of the students so that they could have privacy, but not too far that they would get into any serious trouble, God forbid they got caught.

Then again, that all depended on what they were doing when they were caught.

“Not much further.”

He’d give her that much, at least, turning around in order to swipe at a branch that was in front of him, lifting it so that she could walk beneath it as he continued to lead her by the hand to where he wanted to take her. It would be another couple of minutes before he pushed past a hedge of bushes, creating an opening for her to follow him through. It lead out to an area of trees, which were only just starting to bud with vibrant pink leaves – a group of cherry blossoms, which were blooming around wild flowers. It was definitely a beautiful sight, something he thought she would have much more of an appreciation for than he had.

He had brought her there because he loved seeing the look on her face when he knew she was truly happy, or excited, or pleased by something.

"Ohhhhh!" Danielle breathed, letting go of Donovan's hand to rush forward into the grove of trees. Oh! Professor Sprout had talked about these trees, how she had planted them with her year mates in her first year, look how they'd grown! Danielle had always meant to look for the blossoms, but she'd always lost her thoughts and forgot about them. "Prunus serrulata!"

Her hand reached to the slender trunk of the tree, amazed that something so beautiful could be such a short distance from the back alleys of Hogsmeade. The town was pretty, but these were beautiful, and not native to the land so they were unique and special, it was really breathtaking. The petals on the ground looked like they hadn't been disturbed, so with all the students who had come to Hogsmeade this year, none had tampered with the natural beauty of the cherry blossoms. Danielle turned around, leaning back on the tree to look at Donovan.

"How did you find this?" she asked, breathless. Her face was full of wonder and intrigue, and...adoration. Donovan had known that she would absolutely love the trees, and just the idea that he'd thought of her when he'd found this place...her heart was beating madly.

Emmet! Winter of '76
[info]persephones
2011-03-15 02:03 pm UTC (link)
It was always good to start the year off with a new boyfriend. Bianca had kept her eye on Emmet Belby for a while, making up his back story in her mind as she watched him get teased and pushed around by his roommates. Of course all of the Slytherin girls fawned over Evan and Caradoc, but Bianca liked watching Emmet. If he was able stay around with those two loud, rather frustrating and annoying boys, then he must have the patience of a saint and Bianca had always had a thing for the good boys.

She liked making them do not so good things.

Even though it was snowing, Bianca had refused to put on a hat because that would mean her hair would get flat and disgusting. She could be the image of winter wonderland perfection in her new cloak and boots. Emmet definitely had the prettiest girlfriend out of the boys in his year, that was for sure. Evan had just broken it off with that wench, Matilda, and Caradoc had just ruined his engagement to Mackenzie. Bianca enjoyed the idea of her boyfriend being the only one with a girl.

"What would you like to do for lunch?" Bianca said, holding onto Emmet's hand with both of hers. She would let him think he had a big choice in the matter.

Being picked to be someone's boyfriend - no not picked, claimed as a boyfriend - over his roommates gave Emmet a reason to be smug. He had a girlfriend, a rather cute one at that and now he didn't have to go to Hogsmeade alone and follow his friends around or be on the look out for Mackenzie. Of course, he was still in some sense hoping to see her, but it was not a game to go looking for her. And it wasn't just because Bianca wouldn't let go of his hand or out of her sight. Emmet didn't mind pretending to fawn over her, here he was a halfblood with a classy pureblood girl dragging him all over. Maybe Caradoc would call him whipped, but Emmet didn't mind, it wasn't in his nature to put up much of a fuss.

He gave Bianca a confused look, she always asked him what he wanted to do and it didn't bother him but they always ended up doing what she wanted. Plus there weren't a lot of options in Hogsmeade. Maybe she was looking for him to preempt her thoughts and suggest something she might like. It was probably a test, lots of things were tests in Slytherin, the way you talked and the way you acted and the way you answered questions, even if they seemed inconsequential. Glancing around, Emmet spotted the one place that no boy in his right mind would suggest. But girls liked it right? "Er, Puddifoot's?" he said, as if venturing a guess to what was on her mind.

She smiled up at Emmet with surprise; he'd actually suggested the tea shop? Bianca of course loved going to Puddifoot's because you cannot help but feel romantic and lovely with all the frills and the pink, but she wasn't dumb. There was not a boy attending Hogwarts that would go there on their own free will. Any bloke who stepped into the place was being tugged in there by a girl, and Bianca was happy with just the offer.

"Ooh, I won't do that to you," she cooed, pushing up to kiss him quickly. Emmet was sweet, even though he was a bit quiet for her taste. It did make it easier to talk about her latest news and gossip, however, so maybe she shouldn't complain. Bianca kept her hands clamped over his and let out a breath as she thought about what they should do. "We could just get something at the Three Broomsticks."

Her eyes lit up as a thought appeared hit her; they had plenty of time to spare before they had to get lunch, "We should visit that odds and ends shop by Zonko's," she offered, "Last time I was there I saw a few old instruments, maybe you could find something."

Henry, First Hogsmeade trip of '72 >>
[info]wadcock
2011-03-15 02:28 pm UTC (link)
Seth had about two hours before he had to go meet his date at the Three Broomsticks (that was just the meeting place, give him some credit, he was more creative than that.) but until then he had time to kill.

He leaned lazily against a light post watching the carriages coming in from the school. Finally the third years were starting to trickle in, with their awe and excitement about their first Hogsmeade trip of the year.

Finally the one particular third year Seth was looking for appeared. Seth had two approaches when it came to his ickle Slyterin brother, a, ignore him completely, or b, be obnoxiously annoying to the point Henry is so flustered he can't get his sentences out. Today, Seth was bored, and it commemorated a big moment in his little brother's life, his first trip to Hogsmeade. So of course he was going to go with the latter.

"Ickle Henry!" he called moving fast and throwing an arm around Henry's shoulder before he could get away. "They let you out of the castle. I take it you finally found your Permission form." The one Seth may or may not have hidden before they departed from the train.

It could be described as a look of terror as Henry saw his brother swoop in on him. He'd had the whole day planned with his roommates, his silent panic of not having his permission slip being completely subsided by the planning. Donovan said his friends would want to go to Zonko's first, of course, so that would be the first stop, but----he couldn't go if he didn't have his form!

"My form!" Henry yelped, struggling to get out of his brother's grasp. Seth was so embarrassing. His roommates didn't even know until Seth loudly announced it at breakfast one morning when Henry was ignoring him. What joy did he find in this teasing?! If he was the older brother, Henry was sure that his little siblings would find him as someone to look up to not---not---"YOU JERK!"

Henry managed to pull away from Seth and he shoved him as hard as he could in the arm, "You hid it in my quidditch stuff! I knew it!"

"Well if you had unpacked properly and actually, you know used your quidditch stuff, you would have found it ages ago." Seth said as if this was the most obvious thing in the world. "I keep telling you, go out for the team. Be a man, play quidditch." Seth rolled his eyes at Henry's sad attempt to shove him away. He's been playing beater since second year, it was going to take a bit more effort than that.

"Come on don't be like that." He said grinning widely pulling his brother back in. "Look, I'm sorry, I guess, well not really but you found it time no big deal. And now to make up for it, I'm going to show you around."

Henry struggled greatly against Seth, ready to start hollering, but he realized that everyone would see him throwing a fit. That would be worse than having to deal with Seth for a few minutes, because no one would ever let him forget acting like a baby in front of everyone. So now he was stuck with Seth, if he ever wanted to have friends.

Great, just great.

He felt his cheeks puff up as he was steered around by his brother, and it took all of his will power to not fall to the ground in a fit to stop Seth from driving him bonkers. Henry stared sternly at the ground, crossing his arms tightly.

"I know where everything is!" he snapped. He and his roommates and mapped out their day a week ago!

"Sure you do." Seth said guiding his brother through the crowd, smirking as he tried to get away.

"You know in theory where everything is. You've never been here. I on the other hand have been here multiple times and know in actuality."

See, this right here, Seth loved. He could see his brother turning red. He was probably all sorts of embarrassed with his Gryffindor older brother. "So where are all your ickle housemates. I'm surprised you rode up alone." Or maybe he didn't. Seth really wasn't paying much attention we he snagged him from the carriage.

Hogsmeade weekends were so boring. Psyke had no idea why people got so excited about them, but she supposed that 99% of the Hogwarts population hadn't gone to Paris Fashion Week since their thirteenth birthday. Really, what did some cobblestone streets and little cozy cottages have against the backdrop of the Eiffel Tower? Nothing, that's what.

Psyke had refused a few dates to the town because, really. What could any of these boys do to make it an interesting time? She was still mad at Finn for being with that Ravenclaw bint, and their latest row in the common room had put her in a sour mood for the rest of the week.

As she used her wand to fix her slightly chipped nails (bloody---classes messing up her manicure), Psyke felt a presence near her shoulder and she looked up. Her disgusted look dropped into an even more disgusted one and she looked the boy up and down,

"What's the matter, Brown, your girlfriend slither back into the dingy snake pit she hatched from?" Psyke batted her eyes, a smile perking up on her face. Ha, making fun of Harper Brown and his Slytherin always made her feel better. Maybe he should stick around.

Mackenzie had such a buzz her body was practically vibrating. It had become difficult for her to stay in one place as she waited for Sebastian to arrive to their normal secluded spot in an alleyway. But it was warranted! Not some random uncalled for mental high, no no! The weather was lovely, she had finished all her work for the weekend, her outfit made her feel pretty and it was her boyfriend's birthday.

Well, secret boyfriend. Secret Gryffindor boyfriend, if she was going to be honest. And it wasn't really his birthday today, it was next week. But they didn't have the luxury of Hogsmeade next week, so Mackenzie had decided to take some liberties and start his birthday celebrations early. It was perfect! Sebastian would have no idea what hit him. Everything was going to be so perfect--- she had been planning this for weeks now, it was guaranteed.

Half of her wanted to see him become so overcome with emotion that he cried or something, but Mackenzie knew that was just the competitive side in her wanting a visual recognition of success. Really she just enjoyed the idea of being able to stop him speechless for once. He did that enough to her most of the time, it was only fair that he experienced it as well!

So, as soon as Sebastian appeared, Mackenzie jumped him to pull him in for a very warm embrace. She was just so excited! She usually wasn't like this! All forward and overtly emotional, but there was a plan involved! A perfect birthday plan, with things being said and revelations and such! Oh, it was all going to be wonderful.

Her chin dipped low as she looked at him in an almost alluring (goodness!) way once eventually pulling away from him. "Hi," Mackenzie practically purred, still gripping him tightly.

He kissed her as soon as he had the chance. Their prefect rounds had only lined up once this month, so the last time Sebastian's lips had touched Mackenzie had been nearly a month ago. His hands grasped at her face and she felt like heaven. Oy, oy, oy, they needed to arrange more meetings because how was he going to survive the rest of the year on just these short Hogsmeade weekends?

"Hi," Sebastian breathed, not wanting to move away from her, his hands still cupped around her face. Oy, her hair was perfect, it was beautiful, just like her. Sebastian knew that he was completely blinded by his adoration for Mackenzie and that he sounded like a complete and total sap, but she brought out the romantic in him.

His hands slid down to her shoulders, down her arms and to her waist. Sebastian grinned, pushing himself closer to Mackenzie and keeping his voice hushed even though they were far down the alley and hidden. Even though their secrecy kept them apart for so long, it also heightened the excitement of their infrequent meetings.

"What would you like to do today?" he whispered, his hand only leaving her waist to touch her hair and move it out of her face.

How was she ever going to detach herself from him? She couldn't. Sebastian's grasp was pure euphoria. No one else had ever been able to make her feel like this, let alone through a simple touch. Mackenzie would melt right there if she could, die completely happy and--- oh, her insides felt like jelly when Sebastian looked at her like that.

And Mackenzie knew, she knew it was because these moments of theirs were few and far in between, but they just felt so good. Her stomach nearly jumped to her throat when he pushed her hair out of her face, and it took a lot for her to keep a relatively calm exterior. Or at least not show how completely crazy he made her feel. Only normal outlets of affection, thank you very much.

"I already have it planned," Mackenzie revealed, leaning in to rest her chest against his. Wanting more, she stole a few more kisses before speaking again. "But it's a surprise." A wide smile appeared on her lips as she looked at him, Mackenzie specifically taking the time to watch his face.

Sebastian's eyes lit up at the prospect of a surprise. What could be more surprising, more exciting than meeting with your Super Secret Slytherin girlfriend? But if Mackenzie had planned it, surely it was going to be amazing, and spectacular, and simply simply perfect. Sebastian resisted doing a little jump of excitement, barely detaching himself from Mackenzie to let her continue with this surprise.

"What have I done to deserve a surprise?" he asked lowly, ducking close to kiss her cheek quickly, his forehead pressing against hers. The whole town of Hogsmeade could come tumbling down around them and Sebastian was sure that they wouldn't notice, that they'd still remain standing surrounded by the rubble.

He'd never felt so strongly about anyone, about anything in his life like he did Mackenzie, and that sort of feeling was hard to contain. Sebastian had no idea how he managed to keep their relationship a secret from his roommates, who could usually read his expressions like an open book. Maybe it was because she was so important to him, and if anyone found out about their sneaking around it could lead to some really terrible ramifications for the both of them.

She blinked slowly, thinking for a moment. It couldn't hurt if she gave him a little hint, would it? It might even help in the long run! Before speaking, Mackenzie's hands rose to rest on the sides of Sebastian's face. Oh, she loved putting her hands in his hair. It was just so full of ringlets and thick! Not to mention--- stopping her mind from wandering too overboard (Matilda had yet again brought up potential children traits on the carriage right over), she dropped her hands to his shoulders and shook her head.

"It's part of your birthday present," Mackenzie spoke, her brows going high. There, that was all he was getting. Showing was always much better than telling. Burying her head into his chest, it took Mackenzie a few moments to control her blush. Merlin she really had no idea how she functioned here with him, or without him most of the time. Now it seemed barely possible to detach herself from him, and the time they spent apart seemed to create this limbo, unstable time-warp feeling.

They definitely needed to find more secluded spots in the castle.

"We'll have to get going soon if you want to enjoy it," she sighed, rising up on her heels to match Sebastian's height. His forehead felt burningly pleasant against hers, and if Mackenzie hadn't known she was in love, she would have thought it to be a fever.

Oh my god having a boyfriend was such a wonderful thing. Gleny would openly admit it; she was one of those girls that needed to have a boyfriend at all times or else her world would be over. Seriously. She turned into this crazy thing obsessed with boys that had an even more altered understanding of reality than her normal self. Gideon was very good at reigning her in.

Well, that wasn't the only thing he was good at.

Oh that sounded so dirty, but she loved it.

Letting out a happy sigh, she swung her and Gideon's hands (of course they were holding hands) as they walked slowly through the streets of Hogsmeade. They hadn't really any place to go, or set any planes in advance on what they would do today but that didn't stop this moment from being nice. And despite it being September, a bit of the summer weather was still lingering in the air.

So really, Gleny was in heaven. Turning to Gideon, she smiled widely. "Can you believe we're seventh years now? It's so crazy, I remember being a first year and thinking how cool the seventh years were, and now that's us!" She stopped for a moment, the next words rushed out of her mouth as if a brilliant new idea. "We should befriend some first years!" Gleny gushed, her other hand swinging to latch onto Gideon's arm.

Matilda Rowle was not a very good loser. She was quite the sore loser, if you wanted to be so vulgar, and she had a very hard time denying this fact when all her emotions were written on her face for everyone to see. This past summer had been absolutely miserable, as not only had her parents failed to find her a suitor before her seventeenth birthday, but Mackenzie Loftus, her best friend had become engaged to Caradoc Dearborn.

She'd supported Mackenzie, of course, and wiped the girl's tears as for some reason she was miserable and devastated about the arrangement, but Matilda had been there as a shoulder to cry on. She'd even given her friend some advice on how to get out of the situation, or how to make the best of it. Think of how beautiful their children would be!

It was a front, however, and Matilda had spent the rest of the summer and the first month of school boiling with anger at the whole situation. Mackenzie didn't want Caradoc, and while Matilda was sure that he didn't exactly want to get married either, he was the man. If he decided to leave, then that was his right---Mackenzie should have been grateful for this arrangement. It wasn't as if it were some random man she'd never met before! Matilda would understand being upset about that, but Caradoc! It was Caradoc.

"Caradoc," Matilda snipped, coming up from behind him in the Three Broomsticks, ignoring his present company of Evan, Orpheus and Emmet. Evan she was not speaking to, because he had been in such a snit over his breakup with the Fortescue girl this summer, and Emmet was----Emmet. She liked him somewhat, when the other boys weren't around to talk to. Only Orpheus earned a nod of hello from her, and Matilda grabbed onto Caradoc's sleeve, "Will you walk me to Scrivenshaft's? I need quills."

Unfortunately for Matilda, Caradoc was far from a complying mood, let alone to anyone within the female persuasion. Women were on his black list, the whole lot of them! Ruining his seventh year like it meant nothing, trying to enforce talks of marriage and family like it was something he had ever been interested in. Please.

Caradoc didn't know what infuriated him the more; the fact that his mother was assuming more and more control of his life, that Juliet was reveling in it all, or that every fucking day that bloody ring on Mackenzie's finger continued to be a constant reminder of how she wouldn't let it go. How she refused but would constantly cry at him and shit. It just put him in a constant state of aggression, basically, hating everyone and everything because if the world was going to make him miserable, then everyone around him would be miserable too.

So Matilda was just going to have to suck it up and deal with it. He would rather drop dead than publicly concede to do anything for someone else. Emmet, Orpheus and Evan were right there. It was simply not within his nature.

"No," Caradoc scoffed, face shifting to show judgement and distaste. He shook himself from her grip, pulling his arm close to his chest for added effect. He was here to have a drink, not follow Matilda around with her mindless errands. That was what Mackenzie was for.
