2o1. "Hallow Man 2" (2006) director: Claudio Fäh writers: Joel Soisson & Gary Scott Thompson starring: Christian Slater, Peter Facinelli & Laura Regan watched: Sept. 11 rating: 3/5 comments: I know Christian Slater isn’t exactly a hot commodity in Hollywood, but “Hallow Man II,” really? I didn’t even know they made a sequel until I saw it pop up on the Showtime OnDemand page. It was apparently straight-to-DVD. The first wasn’t really amazing, but still enjoyable, and this second one is actually more thrilling and suspenseful than the first, but by no means more well made. The plot is extremely weak, but the filmmakers don’t seem to care about that so long as there’s a lot of action and scary noises and shadows to keep you scared. And you don’t even see Christian for the first half of the film, and then it’s only in one scene, a flashback, and then when he pops up for two minutes at the end for the big, climactic finale. Other than that it’s all voice-over. Christian is a pretty fitting replacement for Kevin Bacon, but I personally find Peter Facinelli more enjoyable to look at then Elisabeth Shue In the end they both have their strengths and weaknesses and it’s pretty much a draw.
