Avery got lucky. Born with a silver spoon practically in his mouth, he didn't have to worry about much growing up. The rich kids always had friends and they certainly didn't have a hard time attracting the ladies either, even if Richie Rich wasn't the best looking of their class, which wasn't the case with the Sloans, Avery included. Their whole family had always been flawless, and many people had joked that they had made a deal with the Devil (or the Dark Lord in this case) for their timeless and effortless beauty. In five words, the Sloans could be described as beautiful, powerful, rich, and not you. Or, if you don't like those last two, vain and uptight. Since he belonged to a pureblood family, it probably didn't help, either.

What also didn't help was Chandler Sloan, Avery's father, and his never ending income.
Whatever Avery wanted, Avery got. Ever since he was a tiny tot, if he didn't get the latest and most lavish toy, he would throw a fit, and the only way his parents knew how to make the whining stop was to get what the boy what he desired. Needless to say, he grew up rather spoiled. This continued on through grade school, and up to high school, and still has yet to see an end. Even if his voice wasn't heard, at least his wants were.

Avery is convinced that Giada is just playing hard to get when it comes to the two of them. He certainly doesn't want to marry her (why would he when he is such a playboy?), but he finds it hard to say no to a pretty face, which is pretty much how he thinks Giada thinks of him, too. He constantly plays Giada hot and cold, only being nice to her when he feels like it, though she's pretty used to this by now. Despite his usual jerk bit, he actually has the decency to tone it down a notch, though that's not exactly saying much if you're Avery Sloan. Since he and Giada's mothers have been trying to set them up for quite some time now, he considers Giada one of his closer acquaintances, since it's a little troublesome to keep friends when you're a jerk, though he would never admit it.

But she thinks that she's fat

Avery is probably one of the laziest persons you will ever meet. He has started dozens of project, but has only finished one or two. It's not that he doesn't have the ability to finish them; he just knows he doesn't have to because he could always find someone else to do the work for him. It's hard to have the desire to do something when you could just take the easy way out. And doing things the easy way is what he is used to, even if it isn't the right decision.

His only ambition right now is to be a womanizer for as long as possible. He's noticed that being good looking has opened doors for him (as well as his name) and women don't seem to care if he makes sarcastic remarks or if he never calls them back. In fact, Avery has noticed that this usually gets him more action than anything, and if it works for the girls, who is he to deny their wants? He certainly doesn't plan on denying his own.

The only person his sleaziness isn't charming or winning over is Giada, which just won't do for him. Convinced she's in denial about her attraction to him, Avery isn't giving up any time soon. Wanting something you can't have only makes him want her more, and Avery always gets everything he wants, so that's saying a lot. Not to mention the only person who's ever said no to him is Giada.
