She caught him fighting or, rather, she discovered that he'd been fighting when she walked into the apartment one evening only to see blood on the carpet and on one wall heading back towards Dex's room. She was instinctly ready for a battle, the ring glowing green as the groceries fell to the floor forgotten. Lanterns had been killed in their own homes before--Mo knew well the story of her Aunt Katma and how she had been sliced to ribbons in her own kitchen--and Mo felt her chest grow tight as she made her way towards the room, ready to retaliate against whatever it was that she found when...
...she turned the corner and saw Dex, bloodied but very clearly alive. Her brain had imagined so many different scenes than the one standing before her. She expected carnage, body parts, death. But Dex wasn't dead or dismembered. Just injured. Her readied fist dropped and she breathed an obvious sigh of relief.

And then proceeded to kiss every part of his face that wasn't bleeding.

"I thought I'd find you dead and I couldn't...I couldn't handle it. I care about you, Dex..."

To her surprise he didn't laugh, didn't pull away, didn't run. Instead, he grinned before shutting her up with a kiss.

"Knew it."
