1) I'd be more in favour of this than sticking with Mansion canon. Though personally, I'd be more in favour of paring down canon more than that. Most people like it; it can often be used as a springboard for new directions to take the character in. I find it more of a crutch. I don't like getting bogged down in it, and quite simply, I prefer stories about heroes in their infancy. They're less jaded, they make mistakes and they have more lessons to learn on the way. I feel there would be more scope cherry picking the bits of canon that we do want rather than cherry picking the bits we explicitly don't want.
2) Not terribly in favour of this. It could work if we stuck to A-listers, perhaps, but I think most Marvel/DC characters have an analogue in the opposing canon anyway. 3) I could get behind this, as long as lesser known characters or reserves aren't marginalised too much.
Young fresh heroes are fun, it's true, but I'll be totally selfish here for a moment.
I love Cap's relationships with people like Falcon and Diamondback, or Nomad, etcetera. I just wouldn't be able to develop all of his awesome history if we started anew. The other concern would be newer characters. Would we not allow characters like the Young Avengers and the Runaways? Hrm. What if we did things a little differently? What if we started off fresh, with a new MU, but allowed new characters in during stages? So, for example, during Stage 1, we'd only allow characters who would be active in the 60's-era of the comics (even though it'd be set later)? Then we start allowing early 70's characters, then late 70's characters, and so on?
I swear I have to play Cassie somewhere. She will eat my BRAIN if I don't.
That said, if I could play Wanda and Vizh hooking up (and NOT DIVORCING) I think that would be really cool.
Then again, I'm really warming up to the idea of "fixing" Marvel's mistakes and not having to worry about explaining them. And I'd be playing Cassie elsewhere anyway.
Although I still don't like the idea of separate comms. It sounds messy if one character just wanted to visit another. (I for one think it'd be cool to have Wanda hang out more with the X-men like in First Class). Just my thought. |
