i'm reading through all this, and i have to say that i wish i had a slp too. i don't know anyone ooc, and sometimes i feel really left out. the lone rangers are always the ones who get screwed over when it comes to sls.

GRAD SCHOOL ANON MAD, GRAD SCHOOL ANON SMASH. i may actually need to take a hiatus in order to not feel bad about neglecting the friends page in favor of obsessing about whether or not i got in and stalking gradcafe to see if anyone got into the programs i applied to. is that stupid or what?

i am a lone ranger anon too like above but all i really want is a super close best friend type that my character can tell everything to stuff like that. my character always kind of floats around between everyone but it would be nice to have that one solid friendship. i can't seem to get it naturally though and i'm always wary of pimping for stuff like that.

i just want to say i came in not knowing anyone ooc and i have made amazing connections with people without it. you can do it. you just need to put yourself out there and find the right matches for you. i really hope all of you find a slp who appreciates how awesome you are because damn, all of you rock.

i'm one of the lone wolf anons above and i do put myself out there, probably more than most people in the comm do. i comment as much as i possibly can and yeah, i've gotten some funny comment threads out of it, but not an slp. this comes off like you think it's all our fault for not trying or putting ourselves out there, not that i know for sure that that's how you meant it but that is how it reads

i don't! my current scene partner and i have been giving each other 300-500 words and i like it because we can get a lot of things covered. on the other hand, in my psl i'm more apt to exceed the character limit because my slp is a lot more wordy with everything, and we kind of scene at a different pace if that even makes sense. i'm comfortable with whatever really.

being expected to write replies that break the character limit horrified me! it's weird because i feel like i've always been taught to get to the point of what you want to write, and avoid becoming long winded. my replies are typically 300 - 500 words, and my main objective is to keep the scene moving at a good pace. now i'm just paranoid about my writing.

don't be paranoid. some people are more long winded than others. i was taught to write without using any to be verbs so i try to avoid that in my writing at all cost.

how do you guys feel about picking up roles for the character where the actual actor is quite a bit older, BUT the role itself isn't really age specific? the role i'm thinking of is a reporter/storyteller kind of person, so i'm thinking age wouldn't really tie into it too much, but the actor actually slated to play them in the movie is about 15 years older than my guy. would that be a huge thing?

I definitely am of the type that likes to write shorter and move the scene. With my main sop who I dont really write with a ton here but whatever, I feel comfortable even dong 100-150 word replies as long as they are meaningful and move the scene. I think here I'll typically do a 500 word scene starter cause I feel that's pretty neutral for length in rp. Normally I don't max out over 5 with replies but I give myself the permission to. And yet I write 4k narratives. So who knows. Everyone is different.
