i taught myself, actually. there are definitely a lot of websites around that are great at starting you off. i know this sounds corny, but lissaexplains.com is easily one of the best sites to get you started. it may be directed at little kids but it really walks you through learning the foundation. and then beyond that it's always been a matter of "okay now i want to try this...." and then just doing it, or actually viewing source codes on sites i like to figure out exactly how certain things are done.

hahah i loveeee lissaexplains.com, it's how i learned how to do all my shitty geocities "websites" when i was in middle school, and now i still know how to do all the basics now. but i never really progressed out of that basic foundation, though, and i haven't a clue when it comes to css.

that site is so crazy helpful! and i actually learned css from it, but as a whole css can be very confusing. and i think a lot of the time you have to really think outside of the box with it and just take chances with what you're doing. i can't even tell you how frequently i'll be like "oh i have an idea..." and then just google to see if it's even possible. sometimes it isn't. and it's also like you have to keep up with it and keep learning the newest stuff as browsers evolve. a lot of work for something i don't get paid for lmao
