if someone offered up a line/credit suggestion and you can't take it because either 1) you already have a line with them or 2) your other character is also in this particular show. how do you decline politely without giving yourself away?

you could say that it just doesn't fit with the way you see your role going so you'd rather not hog something like that for someone that might really want it and thinks it fits their character 200%.

i would just say "that doesn't really fit with what I had in mind for this guy/girl." and then maybe offer them something else sort of vague? like obviously you don't want two lines with the same person. but basically just anything that lets them know it's not just that you have an aversion to writing with them.
