they met when satch was 2 and li was 1 1/2. they lived in the same neighborhood growing up in philadelphia and were in the same grade until high school when satchel advanced a year. their families have always been close, so satch was always this little blonde dude hanging out in the middle of all the asian kids. li was pretty much the fiercely protective/big brother type over him in school because people picked on satchel a lot. that dynamic all started to shift when they were in college and li started in on popping pills/skipping his own meds and his bipolar disorder became harder to control. the two of them pretty much always had a mutual crush on one another but never acted on it because they're kind of the most amazing best friends ever, and they haven't lost that by being boyfriends ever. in fact i think they call each other dickhead and fuckface more than they say i love you.
