He spends a lot of time researching and understanding the world of art (his main character is in the world of art and etc); so jack spends a lot of time researching art crimes, art history, character development and usually he gets an idea through that. Then he creates deadlines for himself; it usually takes him a month to two months of writing the novel and then he does drafts and bs.
