all the recognition and acclaim for pride and prejudice came at a time when she was at her lowest mentally. she'd been on this high for filming and then she was in hollywood and succumbing to everything she swore she wouldn't and so hating herself for being weak enough to do that... so in a way, she kind of shrugged off the acclaim because she felt she didn't deserve it in the first place. if anything, it had a negative effect on her for a while because she was so sure it was all a weird joke. and then by the time she (kind of) got out of that depression (though it's never really gone completely) the time for praise was over and she was in something new, known for something else. so she missed out on that, really, which she finds a shame as she will always insist p&p was her peak.
