having not seen x-men myself yet (ashamed, i am so ashamed), but managing to scrape together a possibly inaccurate idea of what his character was like, i don't think it was terribly ron-like. but, he knows that he's kind of in a honeymoon period with the casting directors, ready to snatch him up. he's afraid of being typecast, but not necessarily right now. once he's done with warm bodies and x-men, and he's still best-known for ron, he's worried that there will be a threat of "let's just have you do what you do best". haha, so short answer, yes.
