guys i'm in such a funk right now. i can't find a job and i have both of my parents on my back about finding one, i hate the thought of going back to school and finishing my classes because i hate the classes i need to take and i'm just bummed that no one seems to want to let me breathe for a second. on top of it all, my dad is an asshole who couldn't give a shit about anything i do as long as i don't have a job. i just came back from the biggest theater festival in the world after working a show at one of the most respected theaters there, met a celebrity and made a new contact with him and all he cares about is that i didn't get that job at old navy. this fucking sucks and all i want to do is cry right now.

sorry for the rant :(

It's cliche, but sometimes parents really just don't understand. It's easy to tell your kids to get the fuck out there and get a job, any job. But it's almost worse to have a job you absolutely hate than to be unemployed. I mean, the depression rates for some people who are unhappy with their jobs is staggering (I speak from experience on this too). My mom was the kind of person who told me to get the fuck out of her house, to find a new place to live, to get out. And then when I found a place? WHY ARE YOU LEAVING ME? They're still learning this parenting shit as they go along too.

it just makes me feel like such a failure when they do this. i get it, really. i need to finish my classes and i need to get a job. i totally understand that but i just spent all summer working on a show and trying to find a part time job and it didn't work out for me. it really sucks when every place you apply either never calls you back or gives you some bullshit excuse as to why they aren't hiring right now. they're telling me to get a job but they already have jobs. they have no idea what it's like to find something in retail right now. it's hell! no one is hiring because of the recession and if they are, they all want full time and i don't have the time to give that right now. i'm just so frustrated all the time with this shit :(

welcome :( i know how parents can be. my mom went nuts on me the year i got fired from the job i had for 4 years. i just wasn't in a hurry to find one, i had worked with no vacations and wanted to take time. but both my parents were breathing down my neck, i think they forget what it's like to be young and have a life. it's a big deal when you can meet someone famous and have a legit connection with them or just have fun in general, it's like they have blinders on when they become parents. i hope i'm never like that towards my kids when i have them. i want them to be responsible but i also want them to enjoy their lives and not overstress at an early age. i'm sorry your parents are being like that.
