"Luluuuu---" Rocco stared nervously around the backyard. If Cormac caught them...or even worse, Lulu's dad---The girl shushed him with a slap of her hand over his mouth. Rocco loved having fun at the McLaggens' house, but this time, Lulu had gotten it into her head that he was supposed to be her boyfriend! He was only nine and a half, he wasn't old enough to be a boyfriend!

"It's okay, we don't have to get married or nothin'," Talulah explained, much to Rocco's relief. "My parents weren't married when Cormac was born--"

"Really?"

"Yeah! I did the maths," she said with a nod. Rocco thought about this, wondering what math she could have possibly done to figure this out, but he figured after a moment that it was just something girls did. He'd never understand them; his sisters got him confused and flustered ten times a day! "But we've gotta kiss, if you're going to be my boyfriend."

"I didn't agree to kissing!" Rocco exclaimed, "I didn't even agree to be your boyfriend!"

Talulah dug her feet into the ground and stopped their trek in a dead halt. Uh oh. Rocco cringed when she turned around to face him, face as red as a quaffle.

"Imsorry," he squeaked. This seemed to be the right answer, because Talulah immediately broke into a smile and kissed him. Rocco stood, frozen, but he let her kiss him because it didn't feel so bad. Maybe he would agree to be her boyfriend after all.
