Just tell her you were grounded, then! We all knew that you were, so she can't hold that against you. Tell her your Dad took away your wand or something if she still wants to be upset at you.
Just--don't worry about what to say. If she wants to talk about this whole head girl business, then she'll bring it up. And if she doesn't, then it's not a big deal and so you shouldn't worry about it!
