Background History:

Obito's family had never been rich, but they had lived comfortably enough. Running a small flower and garden shop, the small, practically seperated Uchiha family was just well off enough that that they could send their only son to the semi-respectable private school in the next town over. The school experience, though, was a far cry from the road to a better life in higher society that Obito's parents had hoped for. The daily commute to school left Obito perpetually late to class, leaving him with a slacker reputation, and his inability to keep up with current trends left him with very few friends throughout his school years, not to mention the constant teasing left him with a hair trigger when it came to the waterworks. Not that Obito had ever, ever admitted to crying in all his years of elementary. Or middle school. ...Or high school.

Once he got into his University years, though, things seemed to be looking up for Obito. Taking a step far, far out of the box, he'd applied to schools overseas looking to study in horticulture to bring in new methods and ideas into his family's shop, and had been accepted to a school in the United States! The University of Nevada in a city that was called Reno. Obito had never heard the name even in passing, but with the glamorous idea that all of America was like the New York, Vegas, or Hollywood he would see on occasion on the television, he packed his bags and headed for a school in what - to him - was like a completely new world.

The rose-tinted glasses didn't last long. Between a new country, an unfamiliar language he wasn't entirely fluent with, fast-paced university courses, and various jobs he cycled through to keep up with bills that his parents could barely help him with any longer, the glamor of America dwindled quickly. His grades hit a downward slope he couldn't catch up with, and his attendance at both school and work was dismal as he had a horrible memory on how to use the transit system, and a cozy affinity for hitting the snooze button. He lasted the first year, but within the first two months of the second year's first semester, Obito found himself without a job and a university in one fell swoop. Seriously, it wasn't his fault he'd finally come up with the money for a game console and found the vacuum of time that was Katamari Damacy. Attendance came second to pleasing that beautiful King. (Who had made him cry on more than one occasion with his overly high standards.) Finally, though, two months after that when he unplugged that horrible playstation and tucked it under his couch to forget about it, he was ready again to face the world.

He needed a job. He'd worry about school later, because it was useless to reapply mid-semester, and his student working visa hadn't expired yet. He'd only take a semester or two off, anyways, and he'd just work in between the down time. It sounded like a great plan to him. It was by luck, maybe, that he came across a flyer on the wall of a... Respectable video renting-and-selling establishment denoting one Feel Good, Inc., looking for a few extra pairs of helping hands (and perhaps other body parts) for a few upcoming features. The young man had barely stopped to think about it before scribbling the number down on his palm. He'd seen enough of these things, and he was sure he could do that. For money. For maybe a fair bit of money. He was going to need it to reapply or his courses and pay for the extra year that it would take for him to graduate - he couldn't ask his parents, they still thought he was attending classes diligently, after all.

Yeah, it was a great plan.

Personality, Likes & Dislikes:

Eccentric might be the best word to describe a guy like Obito. Or maybe loud, or obnoxious, or a crybaby, or even lazy; those are pretty fitting, too. Having never really had the money for having a childhood with awesome toys and games to play, Obito relishes in being able to spoil himself with toys. Whenever he can. As such, it looks like he has a child around the age of eight that lives in his apartment and leaves their toys everywhere. But then you look at Obito and he kind of fits the part of an eight year old, with his boundless energy (after a Red Bull or three) and that habit of crying at the drop of a hat no matter how hard he tries to quash the urge to. Still, he'll never admit to it. Boys don't cry.

He likes anything and everything a preteen boy would. Fighting games? Check. Comic books? Totally. Scooters? Greatest invention of mankind. Ever. He does have an intellectual mind, he's just a little overexcited when he finds something he would have found awesome when he was ten, but can afford for himself now because he's a grown up. For all his love for anything bright and loud, though, Obito very much enjoys a good, quiet time out in his own space. His tiny apartment is crowded between him, his massive great dane, his relived childhood paraphernalia, and what must be at least a hundred different species of plants in various pots and planters littered across his shelves and patio. His chosen field of study hadn't been just to keep the shop running. His parent's green thumbs must have been inherited by their son, and Obito finds great joy in planting and caring for greenery of all kinds. And naming each and every one of them. He might take better care of the plants than his dog now and then, but then the dog eats the plants and gets all the attention he could ever want. It's a vicious cycle.

As for dislikes, again, we could probably look at a sixth grader and see the same list. He doesn't like being pushed around or bullied, or teased, or yelled at. That twitchy cry-button is annoying even to him, but he just can't stop it once it gets going, and then he gets flustered and embarassed, and so he cries more, and it's just not pretty. But it does and probably will continue to happen. Obito also hates it when people litter, and sometimes gets himself distracted when he spots an arrant napkin by a trash can, and then a plastic bag a little further away, and then a pop can over there. Yeah, he'll touch your garbage. Don't let him handle food without washing his hands.
