And he did. The night he broke out he paid one more visit to Itachi, even if it was a risk to his plan. He promised him he'd come back for him, and told him he was breaking out that night. Even though Itachi was never really one for physical affection, Shisui did hug him that night. And then he was gone, slipping out into the night where he ran for miles, collapsing several times, spraining his ankle, and stepping barefoot into glass and rocks, he didn't stop. Not until he was safe inside a police station, yelling at them in broken Japanese what he'd just been through. Of course a small town police station wouldn't be equipped with translators from over the globe, and the number one priority was getting Shisui's wounds tended to. At the hospital, a translator was finally given to him, and he told his story, down to every last detail he recalled about the locations he'd been forced to. It didn't take long for child services to jump on it, and the operation was raided, and Shisui immediately ran into the fray to find Itachi, unaware that when it was discovered that a boy had run off, they had informed all the kids that Shisui was killed for running off, telling a violent story on how they captured and tortured him, making an example of him in case anybody had known of his escape. Unfortunately, the only one who knew was the only one Shisui wanted to go back for, and in the confusion Itachi ran entirely in the opposite direction. Shisui was faced to realize a horrible conclusion. Itachi was either moved away, or... without Shisui there to protect him for so many days, did they... kill him? It was the worst possible outcome, and it changed Shisui's outlook on life, making him distance himself from everything, never really showing attachments to anything. He was adopted shortly after the raid, taken in by a foster family who pitied him. He had lied, said he didn't remember his last name, couldn't remember the names of his parents. Told the foster workers he had always been with those bad men. He didn't want his true mother and father to know about what they had willingly sent their son into, and with the cease in funds to them, maybe they would just think Shisui had died and leave it at that. He didn't mind if he was labeled a dead man. At this point in his life, he knew he could never face his parents again anyway. Not after what he had seen, what he had been forced to do. The Connolly family were like every stereotypical Irish family, hardcore Catholic and loved children. As such, Shisui spent the rest of his teenage years and into early adulthood with this family, helping to care for the children they continued to take on though they were already financially stressed. But he never fully trusted these people, even though they took them in from the goodness of their heart, his anxieties and fear of trusting from past incidents kept him from ever seeing them as more than simple caretakers, like teachers who you respect but never feel anything for. He was sent to a public school and of course excelled in his studies once he got English down, liking best to work in mathematics and science. After graduation came and went, Shisui remained at home, getting part-time jobs for a handful of years so that he could save up money to leave, to stop burdening this family. But where would he go? It was a hard choice to make, he didn't have any family to run to, and certainly couldn't just up and go back home to Japan. He was at a loss on what to do, where to go, only knowing that he needed to go, and his days to choose were running short. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

And on top of that, he wanted to save for one more thing. For the money to legally return his name to what he should be. Though he was grateful to the Connolly family, he didn't ever feel as if he was a true part of it, and felt he was dishonoring the small amount of family pride he had left. Oh a whim at a public library computer, he researched his own last name, and immediately was bombarded with images and articles surrounding a Madara Uchiha... or Uchiha-Senju, it seemed. It was stupid to run halfway across the country for a man who might not even have any ties to him at all, but Shisui was out of time, and had just enough money for a bus ticket. He had to take risks to survive, right? So it was settled, he was going to Reno. After convincing his fosters, he left with a short goodbye, not hugs given, just a deep bow and everything he owned except a few personal articles getting left behind for the other kids to keep and wear. If Madara Uchiha turned out to be a dead end, Shisui didn't know what his next step could possibly be. But just like running away the first time, it's get from A to B before you find out what C is. And he hoped for once, he could stop at B. Personality, Likes & Dislikes: Shisui is an odd case in that he really doesn't have anything he holds dislike for except sex (and all it pertains). He has no favorite colors, no favorite food, not even a food preference. He learned from a young age to take what was given to you without complaint, and has continued to carry that policy. As such, he never lived a life of luxury, and can't even use computers well simply because he wasn't ever around them. But he's always been a sharp listener and quick to pick up on things that are shown to him. Despite his small size, Shisui is very skilled and manual labor, and uses his intelligence to find faster, and more efficient ways to work. Though in his mind his theories seem to make him more of a leader than a follower, because of his inability to communicate well with people, Shisui really isn't a leader nor a follower, just a straight up loner. He keeps his thoughts and ideas to himself, even if they could greatly help everybody else. Shisui has zero trust for strangers and it takes quite an alarming amount of time to get him to trust you. Though he can be entirely civil to a person if he's addressed, that doesn't mean he likes or wants anything to do with you. He's not even what would be classified as a wallflower, because to be called such you have to show up at the party in the first place. As of now, the only person he trusts and will be open with is Itachi, and it will likely stay that way for a long while. Aside from a social phobia/disinterest, Shisui also has a very wary approach to deep water and bathtubs, which came from several instances in his life involving near-death drowning experiences. As part of his punishment for misbehaving, more often than not, his keepers would shove his head underwater, because of the power trip that came with holding someone else's life in their hands. Though he also isn't fond of showers either, it's one of those necessary evils for obvious reasons. The first time he was molested was in a shower, so those don't hold fond recollections either. He doesn't like swimming pools, hot tubs, any of it. But despite that, has a certain fondness for rain, and would feel more clean outside in a rainstorm than inside in a warm shower. Itachi was the one who got Shisui his job as a janitor when they re-met (pls accept log as my prompts coz BAW) and he while he doesn't like or dislike this job, he thinks it's much better and easier than the ones he's held in the past, and is currently working to save to change his last name, and to pay Madara a settled rent check, even though Madara said it wasn't necessary. As for what he feels for his other family members, he doesn't mind Izuna but still holds no real trust for him yet, and has yet to run back into Sasuke, though that's sure to be fun huh. One final thing worth mentioning is Shisui is self-sacrificing to almost the full-extent of the word. He won't give himself up for any random bloke, but once he cares for you, he will do anything to ensure your life goes absolutely right. This means watch out anybody who tiffs Itachi off, or even looks at him crossways. That being said, he actually has very little pride in himself, and won't defend himself if personally attacked. It's only when someone he cares about is under fire that he reacts. It's not that he hates himself or thinks he deserves punishment, it's that you can't say anything to him he hasn't heard already, and if he doesn't care about you, then why should your opinion matter? It was a mindset he had to take on to cope with being traded off like a toy, and it had to stick for him to continue to live a semi-normal life. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)
