Hatake Kakashi - 2
[info]scarecrow_honor
2010-05-04 04:57 am UTC (link)
Background History: One Kakashi Hatake was born to a first generation Japanese immigrant family, who had moved to San Francisco, California, for a new life. Kakashi would later suspect Sakumo had actually dragged them out of Japan to escape illegal dealings or because he’d gotten his mother pregnant before they were married without the in-laws approval… Or something else. Kakashi doesn’t really know, but he’s creative like that.

His childhood would have been typical with loving parents if his mother hadn’t died when he was three due to an untreatable disease. Or if his father hadn’t committed suicide when he was six years old after he fell into unavoidable debt. Besides that, things were fine. At least, that’s what Kakashi told himself. He’d dealt only as children did when his mother died, by clinging to his father. Already having a tendency to observe rather than play with the children of Japan Town, he didn’t turn to any playmates for comfort. For a time his father and he became inseparable except for school and work. With his father’s attentions and the boy’s quick mind, he skipped first grade and was finally making a few friends when the worst struck. Sakumo couldn’t pay back his wife’s medical bills despite working overtime. Having gotten loans and spent credit he didn’t have, Sakumo essentially lost everything trying to find a cure for his wife.

Being a traditionalist, Sakumo took the honorable way out to a Japanese man. But they had no relations in America, where Kakashi was born a citizen, and so he was placed into the foster system, grief-stricken and resentful. At first believing that his father was simply a coward and weakling, the boy grew up tough, mean, and following the letter of the law so that it would never catch him like it did his father. He was always an intelligent child and excelled in academics besides not having any compassion for others, and moved around only a few times as a child of the system until an understanding, hard-working Chinese family took him in. Graduating at seventeen from the public school system, Kakashi had avoided most people unless they entered a give and take relationship in which he found some benefit.

He would have had little ambition or passion for continued learning if he hadn’t discovered the taboo side of teenage life. Kakashi was never against trying something new at least once, so he accepted any non-addictive—free—substance that was available to him and even became involved in the little porn trading club a group of boys had developed. Hormonal as any teen, he knew the communal ideas of beauty and ‘normal’ but had his own unique taste. Anything pretty enough caught his attention for a time, though a relationship was too bothersome. Because of this, pornography was a welcome distraction, if amusement at times from the ridiculous lines, noises, and faces.

And then he found Jiraiya. In his senior year he became entranced by the series of pornography that was directed by this man. Everything from the camera angles to the plot line left him breathless, and a little dazed like a fan boy. He’d found his passion.

Having a tragic background, immigrant heritage, and excellent academic skills, Kakashi was able to receive quite a few scholarships, including state money. Seen off by his Chinese foster family, as he was still seventeen when he left, the boy quickly tried his hand at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. A good student, he balanced his studies with a full time job and various hobbies—he’d try anything once, after all—and graduated in the allotted four years with a BFA in Motion Pictures and Television and several independent productions under his arm.

None of which, unfortunately, were pornographic. And so Kakashi thrust himself in the vicious world of Hollywood. The movie industry was there, so there certainly had to be porn, right? Some luck, yes, but it wasn’t his dream job. In fact, Kakashi had been forced to act in several roles—he was pretty when he didn’t hide his face—before he could even get behind the camera. But with tiresome passion for the position, the boy-turned-man finally got several more films under his belt. It was porn, but it was elite, with actual plot and only the best scripts he could find, almost artistic in such a crude business. And while he followed all the typical rules of the industry and sex, he managed to make the camera caress the actors and really get the feel of the plot, rather than a simple camera observing a crude act.

His films were not always big hits, as who wanted to see something beautiful when they wanted to masturbate? But there was something strange most people noticed: his films appealed to the new women audience. And eventually the women’s partners. And eventually the husbands’ or boyfriends’ friends. So it took a while, but eventually his name was known enough that Kakashi figured he would try for the big leagues.

He moved to Reno, Nevada. Good bye Hollywood, hello Feel Good Inc!

Personality, Likes & Dislikes: Kakashi is a solitary person by nature. Now, that doesn’t mean that he can’t make friends—although he doesn’t do that easily—but doesn’t find them necessary for most things. Especially since he prefers his privacy, and most people who wanted to consider them his ‘friends’ were rather nosy. He has a friendly face, as long as you don’t mind it being half covered, and while he doesn’t have a kind word for everyone, he certainly isn’t critical. Well, not out loud anyway. One thing he’d learned in high school was if you couldn’t say anything, it’s best to keep it to yourself, or risk a punch in the face.

In general, Kakashi could hold his own in a fight, but if it came right down to it he tended to avoid or negotiate them with pretty words. He’d learned a few intimidation tactics to get his way in high school, but doesn’t usually feel the need to use them. Mostly a curious man, he has been called a ‘gossipy old hen’ by others, but Kakashi just considers himself open-minded with a taste for knowledge.

His preferred drug of choice is marijuana to alcohol. He likes Japanese cuisine, but has a guilty pleasure for tacos. Sodas are fine, but they can be sticky, which is a texture Kakashi has grown to dislike, so he generally likes water instead. Call him a wuss if you like, but he’s got a stronger sense of self than you do paycheck. Insults and opinions slide off his back like water, so you’ll be hard pressed to make him truly pissed off at you. Mostly, he can’t be bothered to care. But if in the rare amount of time you have with him, you do manage to strike his interest, or make him pleased to see you, he is quite loyal. Loyal in general to people in his ‘in-groups’ like schools or production sets, Kakashi isn’t entirely cold to outsiders, though he has been known to stick up for his ‘group’ members at random without them ever knowing. Friends are something he doesn’t mind the concept of, he’s just never bothered to develop them. After all, he’s gotten to that age where it’s gotten rather boring laughing alone.

Having learned that his shame hidden face is a turn on for some ladies and men, the man believes he has a healthy sex life. Or at least, whenever he feels the itch, there’s usually someone available. The times his co-workers, mostly actors, have wanted to fuck him to get ahead, Kakashi didn’t mind the sex, but sure as hell didn’t give a reward either. You’ve got to work to earn Kakashi’s respect in the business as a skilled anything, and he isn’t going to bump them along just cause they went down on him. And if anyone should try to blackmail him after an unsuccessful attempt, he typically plays the dramatic “I thought you actually liked me card” and gets away with no repercussions. Not that there would be.

Kakashi knows the rules. He knows them very well and would never put himself in a position to owe anybody anything. The only thing that could force him to do something against his will is the social standard of favors and his sense of guilt, if you could actually make him care enough in the first place.

Things he does care about include the short list of: Pakkun, dogs, his alma mater, himself sometimes, and directing. Oh, and Mr. Ukki. He’s a hardy plant.

Sample Post:

First Person

Was Reno always so cold this time of year? Damn. Damn, and double damn. I hate this wind and I hate this cold. Why couldn’t Feel Good Inc be based in California like all the other rich industries…

I must’ve really gotten too used to those summer temperatures… Then again, Los Angeles was warmer than San Francisco any day. Perhaps I just need to get used to it until then. Not that I don’t mind desert, but the cold ocean breeze seems easier to handle when you have something more pretty to look at.

It feels strange that I’m the only person wearing a scarf out here—don’t I strike as the perfect tourist—but then again there aren’t many people out this time of day anyway. So far, first day in Reno, Nevada is boring. Maybe I should stop walking around these half run-down shops and just go to a casino. Or not. That could be expensive, if I don’t keep my wits about those places. Though it’s not like I don’t have a little extra money to spend.

… Alright, no casinos.

Besides they might not let Pakkun in, and I can’t really be bothered to be annoyed by ‘no dog’ policies so early in the morning. Speaking of which. Poor thing, he’s cold too. Damn it, I really don’t like clothing animals but…

Stop whining, Pakkun… Fine, I’ll buy you a coat.

Third Person

It had taken several hours with the little pug bundled in his sweater before he found a tourist shop that sold dog accessories. Apparently, he’d been on the wrong end of the strip. Told to hold the dog while in the store, Kakashi held up various little sweaters wondering about size and coloring. He didn’t want his little buddy to clash after all. Or be embarrassed like he was positive some other dogs must be to wear some things they were forced into.

Picking a black hoodie in a medium size, he thought it would be a good fit until he noticed the writing on the back. An advertisement for Circus Circus casino was printed cheaply in a childish carousal design. Sighing at the limited selection and for the fact that he’d picked a tourist shop in the first place, Kakashi looked down on the now warm pug under his neck, staying cutely still in his barely supported position.

“Maybe it’ll come off after a few washes.” Encouraged with a short huffing bark, the tired owner turned to the clerk to pay for it. Setting Pakkun on the counter as his sweater was rung up, Kakashi undid the collar for a moment.

Exchanging currency and thanking the clerk, the silver haired man took on the ominous task of fitting an animal into restricting material. He kept eye contact with the pug, keeping the obedient animal sitting, before he attempted to pull the sweater over the dog’s head. Startled, Pakkun scooted backwards as fast as Kakashi was putting the cloth on. Seeing the problem, the man tried to hold his dog’s back still while putting the little sweater completely over the dog’s eyes with one hand.

It wasn’t working.

Annoyed, the laughing of the clerk certainly didn’t help, Kakashi retreated. Pakkun slipped out of the sweater with a defiant expression. Standing taller than he ever would have on the counter than on the floor didn’t help the little dog’s confidence in resisting his master however. Kakashi called his name once, sharply, before approaching once more.

Knowing that the man really meant business now, Pakkun stilled, even after the scary cloth blinded him. Finally, Kakashi tucked the hood of the sweater behind the pug’s eyes and set about putting the dog’s paws through the holes. Luckily, Pakkun wasn’t an animal that was fussy about his feet, unlike other untrained beasts he knew. In a moment, the pug was completely dressed in the Reno tourist doggie-sweater and replaced studded collar.

The silver haired man ignored the amused store clerk in favor of setting Pakkun on the ground and walking out into the cold again. Though this time better prepared.

Unfortunately as he stepped around the building into the sun, blankly observing the pug inspect his new wear, Kakashi realized it had warmed up pretty well since he’d last been out.

Damn desert.

And he still had work in an hour. Oh joy this day was.
