[Alecto and Evan and Matilda and Mackenzie.] Why are pregnant women insane? Present company excluded. You were a perfect pregnant woman, Matilda. Mackenzie too. Absolutely glowing.

Clara thinks I'm out boozing every night or I don't know, I think I told her I was doing research for songs. Now she's pissed at me.

She's being paranoid and says I need to show more emotion, but what the fuck.

He married a halfblood Hufflepuff whose brother is a big name in the ministry and honestly! Honestly, Evan? How on earth could anyone hide your duties like that!

Sometimes it's a necessity, keeping your status a secret. If the wrong people were to find out, than he would have a lot more problems to deal with than he already does.

He just doesn't think, and then he complains to us when he's caught up in his own lies.

But that's precisely it! Why surround yourself with people you know from the start you can't trust? It's as if he wanted to get himself into deeper and deeper trouble.

I personally feel that this is for the best. He could do much better than a halfblood Hufflepuff who agrees to get married through a journal entry.

Point taken. He does seem like quite the emotional masochist, doesn't he?

The only problem is that this mudblood Hufflepuff is the only one who could put up with his shit long enough to marry him.

Alecto is single! She could knock him straight in a second flat.

Or ohhhh, Kalista! Evan, that would be perfect! You should have that arranged once they get divorced.

Alecto would be standing over the corpse of her new beau in 5 minutes flat.

And unless you'd like this conversation to take an ugly turn, I suggest never mentioning the idea of Emmet Belby and my sister ever again.

Oh, I kid!

But seriously, Kalista has been out in the social realm for a bit long without her own beau. As her brother, don't you feel the need to remedy that and find her an appropriate suitor?

And before you tell me to mind my own business, I could be talking about your current status with one Miss. Hooke. A status that hasn't changed in over a year.

Kalista is old enough to decide what she wants for herself.

If anyone is going to feel the need to remedy anything, it's going to be our dear father. He always does try to do what's best for us, you know.

Isn't there something else for us to talk about?

No, she's precisely the right age to get--- Of course she is! But you would rather have a say in the matter, if your father was to bring the issue up, now wouldn't you? I could absolutely help you in that case.

And no, not really. Emmet's not listening to me and is insisting on staying with the mudblood.

So. When are you proposing to Cecilia?

You obviously don't know my father. He wouldn't 'bring up the issue', he'd just take action. It's not that I wouldn't rather have a say, it's that I don't get to have a say. If he decides he wants to marry her off, he's going to do it without making it a family discussion.

Shocking.

When I no longer have any doubt in my mind that marriage is what I want.

What is there to doubt? Cecilia's the perfect example of a proper young lady, she tolerates your moods (and do not even try to deny that you are sometimes hard to tolerate! It is a skill only few possess, handling you!), and she loves you.

And she's a supporter of your cause.

And she's very pretty, you two would make lovely children.

Doesn't she make you happy, Evan? That's all you really need in life.

While your points are all valid, I'm not so sure I'm ready for what comes along with being married.

She does, though. Make me happy. Although I don't frequently express my emotions outwardly, the feelings are still there...but I don't think I'm ready for marriage; for starting a family.

If I'm happy now, with how things are right now...why would I want to change that, just to jump head first into something I'm not prepared for?

What comes along with being married? Sharing a home, planning a future, babies, YOU NEED TO HAVE BABIES NOW because I cannot reproduce enough children to make up for Mackenzie and Emmet's mudbloods and Caradoc's lack and Orpheus with his dark haired infant and--- and just everything lovely!

You do see yourself with Cecilia in the future, yes? Just think of it as getting to wake up to her every day.
