As though learning the English language hasn't been difficult enough, I'm trying to understand some American terms for when I get to New York.

So far I've learned that 'Soccer' is a muggle sport that is referred to as 'Football' in England, but they do have a sport called 'Football' and it rarely involves the use of feet.

I feel like I need to learn an entirely different language just so I can understand what is happening around me. English is so very confusing. Too many different ways to say the same thing, and too many different ways to spell the same word in order for it to mean something different.

Раздражает.

I spent a year and a half in the North American League, I could give you some tips!

That would be helpful. I'm sure I could teach you some Russian if you ever have the urge to pretend to be foreign in order to escape an unwanted conversation.

I should warn you, I am a much better teacher than I am a student.

Did you know in America, you don't spell "favour" with a 'u'?

And in America, you spell 'realise' with a 'z'!

I'm going to understand this language. Every time I feel I have it figured out, someone thinks of some new word that's spelled with letters that don't belong. The fact that 'ph' makes an 'F' sound is beyond me.

American English is awful, why even bother? It's not like you'll be doing much conversing with the American team.

I'm not worried about the American team, I'm worried about the American reporters.

Get a translator to do all the dirty work for you! That way you could get away with saying whatever you want in Russian and they'll clean up the cuss words ;)

And this is why you are my favorite.
