1. She was on the west coast, tracking down members of the Hand.
2. Despite her best efforts, the Hand successfully used ancient oriental magics to release a demonic avatar of The Beast into the world.
3. The ninjas had kind of bored him, but running into a greater demon made things a lot more interesting. The whole fight got even more interesting when she told him he could let it all go, since the Hand members died when defeated anyway.
4. He may have saved her from the demon, having to go all out in bear-sark rage to defeat the avatar, but she saved him from giving into his rage and possibly destroying a lot of L.A. when she somehow shocked him out of it by kissing him - apparently not what the bear spirit was expecting.
5. The Murdock luck with relationships held when he held true to his promise never to enter into a long-term relationship, and she never managed to make the same connection with anyone else, but she remained on the west coast to help counter the Hand, and the two are a regular part of each others' rotation.
