1. He would eventually admit to "cheating", his father's superhuman combat sense and some actual training with a sword, just in case, letting him beat her in the final match in P.E. fencing - and she didn't really mind, finally finding someone in this time who could keep up with her in familiar skills.
2. Just to even things out, he dropped his father's powers and she defeated him, but it was still an entertaining match.
3. He explained Power-Ball to her as a modern competitibe art, which didn't interest her much until he explained the part about exploring through the maze.
4. While she didn't have any of the traditional powers that would make her an obvious defensive forward, her sneakiness, skill at navigating, ability to fly in hawk form, and people underestimating her made her a good forward scout for the Power-Ball team in the maze.
5. Somehow, she's actually managed to convince Penny that despite being on the team and all, she's not a threat to her boyfriend... she just had to disarm the first dozen electrical locker traps first before she got the idea across.
