It had been a year. Three hundred and sixty-five days since the zombies, since the chaos, since Mickey and Cindy had died.  Nicolette had nobly kept vigil, absolutely convinced that it worked for them as it would for her--structured, limited immortality.  They'd be back except...they weren't.  She'd given it a year with Steven patiently humoring her but as morning dawned on day three hundred and sixty-six, Nic was done.  The sky mostly black, Nic slipped into Steven's room, curling up on the bed beside him.
