Why did you bend and break...
We never see how close to the edges of things we are, until we're standing there with the wind in our face and the yawning chasm of the unknown before our eyes. It's easy to pretend until that point we've been entirely in control of ourselves. When we've really been gripping the wheel and holding on for dear life while struggling in vain to make the car go the other way. In reality, you're just kidding yourself with the oldest shell game humanity has to offer.

Denial.

Tyki had lost control. Completely. Utterly. For a moment in time his ability to reason and think beyond instincts had been blasted to dust. The result was a mess even he was ashamed of.

And no one would care. He was just a weapon sheathe for the part of him...the memory long gone that was the real power. All the times it had been taken for granted, considered as much as a part of him as his fingers, his heart, and his very soul were suddenly turned over and over in his mind. They spun through his recollections like a black and white movie without any traces of sound. Just the pictures. The bloody gruesome things that they were.

Or maybe that was the bits of flesh and bone clinging to him, helped to stick by the coating of blood all over him. A tooth slid down into his line of vision but, he didn't bother to pick it off. He supposed it was a testament to everything that had happened since he'd come to this hellish place. And it all started with the boy.

Images played again in his mind of his hand reaching inside one white haired Exorcist with the intent to rip a heart out. Clean. Simple. Controlled.

Right. Like his blood hadn't been singing with the prospect of the fear generated when his victims realized he was all powerful, absolute. Their God that decided whether they lived or died.

He didn't want to think about it. Or how he'd love to shred that offending arm that made everything so complicated. The brat relied on it too much.

And what about you?

He didn't answer himself. It was better not to entertain those thoughts. Especially when he was still feeling a smoldering sense of rage coiled and twisting just beneath the surface. Only this time, more than large bear would be torn to shreds.

Ah. Speaking of that...

He glanced behind him.

It had been a towering bear once, almost as big as he was. The thing partly phased through the tree branches and trunk to hold it in place, couldn't be called anything with a name or label. It was just shredded meat and organs barely hanging onto the skin. What was left of it that hung together was in the tree. For a good six feet or so in every direction around the tree, lay the pieces of the rest. And all this because he lost control when he'd been in the middle of crushing its windpipe.

The gender was even a mystery. He hadn't bothered with it and now well...

No point.

There was no sense in hanging around either. He didn't notice his device falling out of his pocket and opening on the grass. It wouldn't have mattered anyways.

He didn't care.

Tyki wandered aimlessly, without a thought or reason until he found himself at the edge of a river bank. Thoughts of Rhode wove through him then, reminding him that tracking mud, or dirt, or anything into his house (because it was his first) would get him reprimanded.

...

And that was how he found himself sitting by the river side and watching the fish swim by without doing anything to clean himself up. The blood slid sluggishly down his frame, staining his clothes, and making the little peaceful spot a vision out of the darkest nightmares.

But he didn't care.

[But shrugging the ruined shirt off to soak it and using to dab blood away from the wound, he's almost strangely silent. It's not even that he's standing close to Tyki, but close enough they're still there and for all practical purposes cleaning themselves up in the river. Exorcist and Noah. Blood and dirt in the water.

It's surreal after moments ago; even Allen knows that. And it still doesn't sit well with him, not at all, but he's here. After all, we're both messes now, Tyki, aren't we.

Allen has to pause as well, bending to wring some of the bloody water out of the shirt but watching Tyki from the corner of his eye for a moment.

But we're getting better, too.]

[Tyki raises an eyebrow at the flat stare. Whether he meant it crassly or not, he wasn't going to pass up an opening like that.] Your mind jumps to that rather fast.

[But the black finally recedes, as he peels off his shirt and scrubs it in the water. There's a hint of it before it fades entirely, leaving just the full view of his bare back and chest. Normally he kept the scars mostly covered up, now they were exposed. He tried not to be too self conscious about that.

They stretched from one side of him to the other, grim reminders of the lethal ability of Allen's blade.

Yes, we're both messes. He watches the Exorcist out of the corner of his eye for a moment and snaps his shirt out, free of blood and gore.]
