Derek, Dorcas, and Delilah

Derek and Dorcas met their second year, when they accidentally ran into each other whilst he was going up the stairs to the Library and she was running down the stairs to the Great Hall. They collided, went tumbling, and landed in a pretty awkward position.

They were not good friends after that. As a matter of fact, he was cursing her because he was trying to get to research an essay that he forgot was due the next day, and nobody pushes Dorcas around. Much of their later years were spent giving the other dirty looks whenever they came across one another, but there was no further interaction beyond that.

Except one day, in seventh year, Derek found Dorcas outside a classroom, trying furiously not to cry. Being the proper gentleman he was raised to be, he hesitantly offered her the handkerchief he carried around with him, she punched him in the shoulder (hard), and they were actually okay after that.

In January of '79, they happened across one another in Diagon Alley. They had remained in touch minimally for a few months after Hogwarts, but nothing truly became of it. Once their friendship had been rekindled, things didn't stop progressing--until one afternoon when they kissed on a park bench. They moved in together in June, and he proposed to her in December.

They got married on March 11th, 1980, in Ireland. Two years and nine months later, they had Delilah Dietricha Dobbs.

Given her stunning lineage, Delilah was an adorable baby girl from the start. She grew up more of a tomboy, however, because neither her father nor her mother really knew what to do with a little girl. She is a Gryffindor, like her mother, and plays Beater for the House team. Delilah is loud, likes to roughhouse, and is completely and totally charming. Getting gussied up is really not a favorite pastime of hers, so she refuses to do it, as far as possible, though her friends have definitely taken her against her will and done up her hair and face. She has a huge crush on Barnaby MacMillan, but doesn't really know how to tell him. Delilah her dream is to go on to play Beater for the Caerphilly Catapults.
