Archie, Izzie, and Barnaby

You wouldn't think that relationships where one party has been arrested by the other have lasting potential. But that, apparently, it utterly FALSE. Which Arcturus MacMillan is utterly, utterly grateful for. Because when Isobel Egg violated several Secrecy Statutes, with her magically-enhanced yoga studio, there was really only one option Archie had, and that was to arrest her. Oh, well, no one was happy about that decision, but what was a poor lawman to do! Well, if you were in Archie MacMillan's well-pressed shoes, the correct answer is—yep: Ask her to dinner.

Now in his defense, she agreed. They just didn't realize it would lead to sex. Which would lead to more sex, some light stalking, and—hold your breath—a somewhat functional relationship. In fact, things were going so well, that Archie was simply waiting for enough time to pass before proposing. He didn't have to wait long, however, because they suddenly found themselves pregnant. Well, Izzie was pregnant, and freaking out about every single thing in the world there was to freak out about. When Archie proposed, she initially refused—thinking that the idea was nothing but maniacal—but with enough reasoning, she finally admitted it was a good idea, and so Ernest Michaelangelo MacMillan was born July 11th, 1980. And then Olive Mirandola was born March 11th, 1983. But this story is not about either of them, no. The real star of this story is Barnaby Mordechai, born February 11th, 1984.

Barnaby is very different from his brother and sister. His name doesn't start with a vowel (although Olive said she didn't have the "—ie" sound to her name, and she wasn't complaining about it), his middle name isn't Italian—and while that may just be name-wise, that tells a lot about Barnaby. He sometimes feels a disconnect with his siblings, but it isn't really there. He is doted upon by his parents since he's the youngest, which makes him a little spoiled. Barnaby can be a little sarcastic, prone to much overreaction, and can explain most anything so that it sounds reasonable (a tool his brother is most envious of and is still trying to perfect). He wanted to try out for the Quidditch team (Gryffindor) his second year, but Izzie pitched a fit that her baby would get bowled over by a Bludger and die, or something equally dramatic, and he felt so guilty that he didn't go out for the team. But in his third year, he did and was put on reserve, and his fourth year, he finally made Chaser (WHICH HE WAS VERY ECSTATIC ABOUT!!!!!!!, said his owl home). When he was younger, his greatest dream in life was to become a bum—something which horrified both his parents—but now, he really isn't sure. He thinks he would like to become a writer and a naturalist, like Newt Scamander, but is a little disappointed that Newt probably found all there was to find about magical wilderness and feels slightly put out by that, so he will not look at a copy of Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them anymore.
