Oldie but goodie? :X
Sigh, that's my defense for all of these, but. I AM NEW TO THE BUSINESS OF CDJ? :[

Give me one of my characters and one of yours, and I'll tell you how they end up together and about their first-born-- even if they are unqualified to have children (doesn't die, not canon, etc). I'll even give a PB!

CRACK, AU, AND CANON GLADLY ACCEPTED.

THIS SON OF A BITCH IS EFFING LONG AND I DON'T EVEN CARE BECAUSE IT TOOK FOREVER TO WRITE AND I REFUSE TO TRIM IT.

Puce was not a color that bothered Meredith Fielding much. It was a little bright, a little harsh, but on the whole, she wouldn't burn a piece of clothing just for the color. But when she met Derek Dobbs, she didn’t just want to burn the piece of clothing—she wanted to torch the person WEARING the puce as well. Although they had gone to school together for a few years, even being in the same House, they never had much occasion to talk. He was simply the really hot older brother of her annoying classmate to her. They ran into each other when she was a sixth year late for exams, him being a third year Hit Wizard, and with a big liking for sticking his foot in his mouth. Something about him just rubbed Meredith the wrong way, and every time she saw puce, her blood boiled and she thought about what an idiot he was.

Time passed, and they had many interesting run-ins (him tackling her on a beach, bonding over his broken ribs at St. Mungo's, him ditching his date for a Halloween Ball to trick a dance out of Meredith, to name a few), most of which ended in disaster. Despite the fact that they both had significant others, that didn't stop either of them from thinking about the other a lot. But Derek couldn't understand why she hated him so badly, and had no intention of changing himself if she couldn't accept him just as she was, and Meredith thought he was the biggest jerk known to man-kind, so nothing ever happened with them.

Except that Derek's then-fiancée was killed in January of 1980, and it forced him to change from the man he used to be. When they reconnected a few months later, he was more somber, less inclined to laugh, and incredibly withdrawn, behavior that was foreign to the both of them, especially when the two of them were anywhere together. A little while later, in a scene incredibly reminiscent of the first time they had an actual conversation, Meredith was volunteering at St. Mungo's towards the end of the school year (to make up for some trouble she got into, but never divulged), she ran into Derek, laid up in a sick bed, looking worse than the first time she'd seen him in there, if that were even possible. Although they were initially awkward together, they began talking once again, and in a surprising act of kindness, Meredith said she'd take it upon herself to make sure he'd smile again. It took him a while before he was ready to leave St. Mungo's, but when he did, he told her that he wasn't ready to stop smiling just then.

Over the months, they spent time together more and more time together. They weathered through some pretty tough times, and trying to make sure he kept smiling in the beginning was a bit of a burden. But it worked—she was the first person to really make him laugh, she was the only person he was truly comfortable slipping back into his old self with, and he had absolutely no problems cheekily referring to her with his possessive nickname "my Meredith." He proposed to her in an extremely odd, spur-of-the-moment-that-had-been-planned-way-in-advance sort of way, and they were married in January of 1981. The most aggravating aspect of their relationship sometimes was Derek's insistence upon abstaining from sex unless they were married, which he jokingly says is the reason Meredith married him.

They were married in January, of 1981 and Emma Jubeltine Marzipan Dobbs was born June 22nd, 1982. Her unique and downright bizarre middle names stem from distant Mormon relatives of Derek's who once came to stay with him whilst journeying through Europe, and left him with a book of baby names when they heard that his wife was expecting, helpfully highlighting a few of the ones they liked. They had already chosen Emma for a girl's name, but they thought Jubeltine was actually rather pretty sounding, and they had no middle name, which fit perfectly. The 'Marzipan' was a tongue-in-cheek addition on the confection that Meredith had an outrageous and excessive addiction to whilst pregnant with her. Emma actually wishes Jubeltine were sometimes her first name, but she hates it other times—which doesn't matter to Derek, because he still calls her "Jujube" as his nickname for her—but she doesn't even seriously tell people Marzipan is her middle name, partially because she hates the stuff herself.

Emma is a Hufflepuff, just like her parents, and has her mother's extreme impatience and her father's mischievous attitude—which doesn't always work out really well for her in the end. She is a big daddy's girl, and thinks it is really cool that her mother is a fashion designer, but has a little bit of trouble assembling outfits that match, herself. She's courageous, loyal, loud, and she'd be the best best friend ever, when it comes right down to it. Emma isn't the brightest bulb in the box, but she was always designed to have a career in something a little more outside-the-box than everybody else, given the subjects she does well in (i.e Care of Magical Creatures, Herbology, Divination etc. etc.), but her parents are actually alright with this, since they are big proponents of doing whatever makes you happiest aslongasitisn'tbeingaHitWizard.
