It had been some time since they'd had time alone. Less than a week after their last conversation, Amiko had dropped off a book for Keiji, reminded him to take it easy, and taken a few days off to go to her father in New York. Since coming back, she'd been busy catching up on work.

But now she's standing in his doorway with a pack slung across her back.

"Aru gisakka no shogai, the whole book is named after the Counterfeiter story. That happens a lot with short story collections. A lot of Inoue's work is just about adultery and death, but that collection was good. I wanted you to have plenty to read once you were done with the three kingdoms stuff." She just rests quietly against him.

An acknowledging sound, and back to massaging him again. "I'm not as interested in the standard death and betrayal stuff... I suppose I've seen enough of it. But a little tragedy can be good."

"There's more to life than death and betrayal? My word, I have been sheltered." Keiji's sense of humor was coming along..unfortunately it tended to the dry and sarcastic. He looks at her curiously. "How is a little tragedy good?"

"A little tragedy in literature, well, that can just be 'interesting,' and a reminder that these things happen, to many people."

Keiji was silent a bit, taking the words into consideration. "..perhaps so."
