Hacking iPod touch
When iPod touch came out a month or so ago, I didn't feel very moved by it, I thought it was pretty ugly and useless (mostly because I have an iPhone). Of course I did have some 'nice' thoughts about it. It has a larger storage space then the iPhone and it was physically smaller...I think that's about it.

So when I heard that the hackers had already started working on getting the iPhone applications and applications from Installer.app working on the iPod touch I naturally got a lot more interested.

Finally, just yesterday, I got a brand new 16GB iPod touch for the sole purpose of hacking and getting it to run third party applications (including the iPhone applications). I used the Jailbreaking guide provided here.

The whole process takes about 30-45 minutes, but it's VERY easy so long as you can follow directions. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be as easy to Jailbreak as the pre-1.1.1 iPhones because a lot of geeky jargon is used and the Terminal is a very important part. With the iPhone you simply had to click 'Go' and it would be done within a matter of minutes. There are fortunately a few GUI applications popping up that simplify the jailbreaking process.

I've installed the Calendar fix, BSD Subsystem, MobileTerminal, Mail and I am going to work on getting Notes on there and maybe a game or two.

So now I am debating on whether or not to keep the iPod, I really have no use for it, I simply got it for that one use, but I do like how it has more space than the iPhone. I just wish they hadn't crippled it so much. It doesn't really make sense to me.
