Consulting
So this is another day down of the hectic schedule that's happening.
Geek/Work Chat: I've set up a new journal, not on LJ though. It's
here. It's simply a blog that contains all my dreams. It's for my Psychology of Dreams class this coming spring. It's running on WordPress. I would like to get a couple plug-ins installed.
Work today started actually last night, I got the email from Rob about what I would be working on when I went to Seventh Generations today. Some of the tasks were simple and some had me looking on Google. They use Entourage instead of Mail...and I've never used Entourage ever since it doesn't integrate well with really anything...Address Book and Mail is really the way to go. So I did a little research and planning last night before I went to bed.
Went to Seventh Generation this morning. Parking is always a bitch in Burlington. I ended up going up to the place, and asking them and they just let me park in their parking lot! Haha getting towed would be uber un-fun!
The building inwhich SG is located is AMAZING! It's like a HUGE studio. Something that would be fun to have as a house. Anyways, I first did the importing FireFox bookmarks into Safari since that was wicked easy. Then I worked on making sure you could roam from one side of the offices to the other without getting a dropped signal. That worked fine. Then I worked on making sure access to the Gen02 servers worked and that was easily sorted out. Also had to shut down DHCP on one Airport Express since it was messing things up. Then I advised about him upgrading his machine or getting a new one. He seemed all for the getting a new one idea haha And because Entourage opened in maybe 7 seconds he wanted a new machine. He wanted it to open faster!! So very silly! Then I worked on getting all his contacts into Entourage from his Address Book, his Razr and his Palm...what a pain in the ass that was! I spent a good hour maybe more doing just that! We ended up getting this app called GoBetween or something.
So I put in like 5.5 hours today which is excellent because that's consulting hours, not normal work hours, more money! A lot more! Haha
And get this, I get home and Berkey has me come back into Small Dog and do even more consulting work! MORE MONEY! I had to get Rubinsteins computers working. It was simple stuff, upgrade one of the iMac G5s to OS X Tiger and get all updates, and then get all 10.4.x updates for the other 2 iMacs...it's a good thing I agreed to do this tonight, because 2 of my favorite people came in to SDE! More on that later though...
So me and Will worked on those G5s for about an hour and then we both left because it was kinda pointless for us to be there while they just downloaded updates.
Horsey Chat: Remember Rubinstein, who I just talked about, the guy who bought those 3 iMac G5s :) Yeah well he quite important in the horse world too. He takes thoroughbreds off the tracks when they're done or whatever and he'll retrain them as hunter/jumpers. Toni (my riding instructor) works up at his place and stuff too. He's UBER rich and he's got this stable manager guy I think who gets like $65,000/year to just keep the stables together. Well that guy doesn't speak good english...not like I do either, but he needs help on how to use OS X and stuff...so Berkey mentioned me and him coul work together and shit...I get horse time, and he can use me to help him understand his iBook and OS X stuff! :)
I haven't seen Nippet in a long time...poor guy! <3333
Other Chat: So let's see...I will probably not being hanging out with Emilie during New years if she can't get us er me a place to stay...I will just go ahead and fill my "vacation" time with more consulting appointments. I've already had to turn a couple people down and re-schedule things because of her, so tonight I'll know what's going on with that!
Charlotte was the first person to come in, she's one of my favorite horsey people! She has daughters, Chelsea and I can't remember the younger ones name, and they just got a new horse, Tank who absolutely wonderful! She was picking up a new iMac G5, finally!! She was talking to me about getting one of those when I last saw her at the Kenyons horse show. So it was really nice to see her. She even invited me to a party she was having at her house tomorrow night. It was kinda organized by Toni haha But Kirsten and Emily are going to be and Toni and all! It'll be great fun! Probably a lot since tomorrow work-wise is going to suck...
Next, Nan came in!!!! She was picking up some iPod Dock speakers for the kids! Oh and shell be there tomorrow night at Charlottes along with Molly. Anyways, she was great fun to have in, we talked horses and all, and I told her I was going to go with green/blue instead of red/black for Nippet and me. So as she was leaving I told her I wanted to do up a website for Equus (the tack shop, not my girlfriends online alias hahaha) and I said free of charge, just a fun project, because I love and support her and her store! So she gave me the go ahead. I am going to try to make it down there sometime in January with a little layout and a couple ideas of how/what it could look like!
Hrmm...not much else to say really...going to Mylan Tech tomorrow with Duano. Need to meet him at the park and ride at like 8am. UUUGH! I am already so tired.
