Before Hogwarts: Bertha was a cute little girl. She loved being a daddy's girl and playing with dollies and dressing up in her mum's clothes. She was also a chatter box, you could never shut her up and she loved making up stories and just talking. Her parents are muggles and only wanted the best for her. Bertha started ballet when she was four and really only loved it because she got to wear pink and a tutu. Preforming in front of everyone was kind of a big deal too. It turns out, she was actually really good at dancing and would have gone onto study with the English National Ballet Company, if she hadn't got her letter to Hogwarts. Being a witch was absolutely amazing and Bertha couldn't think of anything better! She kept up with dancing on the side; because there were no normal extra curriculars. She has one little brother, about four years younger that's a 6th year Hufflepuff! He annoys the crap out of her most of the time, but since she's moved out, their relationship has done better.
At Hogwarts: Bertha was not a very popular girl. She tired to fit in, but being a muggleborn with absolutely no knowledge or any real desire to be a witch (she liked magic and all, but it was just something fun) she didn't quite get along with her housemates. She's not the prettiest girl and she's kind of annoying in the way she likes to talk and gossip a lot. She used to eavesdrop and push herself into conversations. Bertha loved boys though. Flirting with them and snogging and yes, even shagging them, it was all the best part of being at Hogwarts! Until she was sixteen. Bertha didn't always used to be pudgy, she was actually quite fit, until her 5th year when she was driving with her parents over the Easter hols to some recital. Albert was visiting a friend and her mother was driving. They were arguing over something stupid, probably her curfew, when a lorry came out of nowhere and hit them. Bertha's knee was ruined for any sort of intense physical activity and her mother went into a coma.
Six days later the doctors said she'd never wake up. And she never did.
Ballet was something Bertha's mother really enjoyed and with her screwed up knee and without her mother around, Bertha lost the will to care about dancing in any form. She had to retake all of her O.W.L.s in a special provisional exam in August before her 6th year, because Bertha was just quite lost without that drive. She turned her attentions to being a social person, forgetting about anything that had to do with dancing or her mother, turning into a bit of a wild child, doing anything for attention from boys, including snooping around other people's couplings so she had news to share with the more popular people.
After Hogwarts: Bertha didn't do so well on her N.E.W.T.s either, but she scraped enough together to get a position in the Ministry. First she was stuck as a receptionist for the MLE, but Bertha loved to talk and putting someone with her mouth in a position with all that confidential information wasn't just working out. So they stuck her in the public relations office as a Information Officer. She gets to talk to all the people she wants and there are only a certain number of things she can tell them but still she gets to talk to reporters and get all the attention she wants. She lives alone in a small apartment, not far from her parents' house, and still goes home to check on her dad and everything. She makes enough money for herself, but he's a doting father and loves to help her out.
