Oh, I'm so excited! Professor Hagrid said that I can groom the thestrals! I have wanted to braid their manes for a while now, but the ribbon I ordered hadn't come yet. All of the girl thestrals are going to have ribbon-woven plaits, while the boy thestrals will get clipped so that their hair raises quite proudly, especially Tenebrus since he is such a regal, proud animal. He's the professor's favourite, but mine is Adrias and I know that I will give her an especially good ribbon, perhaps the first, though I shant tell the others, I don't want them to think that I play favourites at all. They aren't like hippogriffs--oh! Charles! Charles wanted to know about how to make hippogriffs handle better, will you tell him that hippogriffs are so easy and lovely, but they are very proud, and you need to pretend as though they are your best mate's parents, and be very polite and butter them up until they are so chuffed, they love you to bits and then do things they don't want, like walk from one part of the grounds to another or to have their teeth brushed, for dental hygiene is so key, no matter if you are wizard or beast or elf.

I love you! I will see you tonight at curfew!

The fanged geranium are so sad tonight, I don't know how to cheer them up. Perhaps the mandrakes are keeping them up? Usually a song makes them so cheery and snap their little teeth in the way that lets you know that they're chuffed, but--oh! Oh! Perhaps if I danced, too! Do you think that would help? A song and a dance?

[End hex]

Oh my god, that's so great! I wish I could help you with that, but I haven't seen anyone die yet so, you know, I can't see the thestrals! What colour are the ribbons? You should make Adrias' ribbons orange, I'm sure she'd look lovely and then sort the others by the colours of the rainbow! That would be pretty neat. And I tried! Once. But then I didn't do so well with that hippogriff I had to take care of, so how am I supposed to explain that to him when I couldn't even do it myself!? And I was very polite, I even said please and thank you that one time he gave in but then class was over, so I had to leave and when I tried again, he didn't like me anymore and I don't even know why! Making puppy eyes at it didn't work either, which is crazy! Unless hippogriffs don't understand when you talk to them or look at them or something... though that makes no sense, because if they didn't then why would Professor Hagrid make us do all that stuff, right? Right. You should explain it to Charlie. You're much, much better at it than I am, seriously!

I love you, too! And I'll be waiting in the common room while I pretend to do my homework, okay?

I would say that it's sad that you haven't seen them for they are so lovely, but I am rather glad that you've never seen anyone die, and I hope that you stay that way, forever and ever. So: the ribbons, they are so special, they were well worth the wait! They are charmed so that they sparkle and change shades, like purple one turns every shade of purple! And it shines like starbursts! But Adrias' ribbon, it changes every colour of the rainbow, like my special ink, and it glitters, and oh Mellie! It's so perfect, my heart jumps! It's like flying, which if you can get the hippogriff to listen enough, it will let you take a ride. See, what I do is compliment their fine coat and say how they must have gotten it from their mum, and their fine disposition from their father, and have they ever had tea with a mermaid for if they did, that would be fascinating, and soon, they are so of good cheer, if not a touch dizzy. I just think the animals listen better to me than most people, probably because they feel like most people won't listen to them, though they haven't known you, since you are the best listener I know.

Okay! I think I'll finish my homework up here in the greenhouse; it's so cosy here, and I'm trying to cheer up the fanged geranium, though they've already taken a chomp out of my knuckle, but they aren't to be blamed for that.
