Not My Usual...

For this meme, choose one character of yours and one character of mine-- and then I will write out how they hook up, settle into a long term relationship and/or marriage, and describe their firstborn child/children, if any. Crack pairings and old characters are acceptable.

Keith/Iris Part 1

They had certainly been through a time of troubles, and the impact it had had shaken the very foundation of the Teen Titans. As a result, the heart was bleeding tears like bullets in front of the newly erected statue of Cait Curry.

Iris West had her head buried between her knees while she sat in the dirt in front of Cait's statue. Standing far to the side with a bouquet of white and light pink roses, which were wrong for the occasion. Given that it was Keith, though, it looked like an unassuming mishap.

"Iris?" He moved close, holding the bouquet at his side. Her head raised slightly, and her hazel eyes glimpsed him briefly through messing red locks. They locked eyes for one moment, and then she buried her face again. She was so still and silent, and it worried Keith.

"Hey, hey..." He shuffled closer and sat down next to her. "Come on, Iris. Don't be like this." She didn't say anything to him. Keith didn't really know Cait that well, but he did know that she and Iris were great friends. He also knew the type of person Iris was, and that this kind of thing was a devastating event for her. It was for anyone, really. But Iris was particularly sensitive.

"You know," he started, "I brought flowers." He raised the bouquet up, so she could see if she brought her head up. She didn't, but she had seen them earlier.

"They're the wrong color," she commented somberly.

"I don't think so," Keith replied. And that seemed to initiate a better response from Iris. She lifted her head up and looked at him with what looked like both anger and sadness.

"Stop joking around, Keith!" she barked. "Those are the wrong colors for a memorial!"

"I didn't bring them for Cait," Keith replied, ignoring her tone. "They're for you."

"For...me?"

"Yeah, you. I told you they're the right colors. White for purity, and light pink for--"

"Sympathy?"

"Sweetness."

Keith was smiling at Iris, holding the bouquet toward her. The moment took over control of Iris, and she moved in on him. She ignored the flowers, and wrapped her arms around Keith, hugging him and crying.

"She's gone! Cait's gone!" she cried. There was no immediate reply from Keith. Instead, he put down the bouquet and slowly wrapped his arms around Iris. His right hand rested on her head, and his left on her back. He wanted to make her feel secure and safe.

"I know," he replied. "I'm so sorry, Iris. I know it's going to take some time, but things will get better. I promise. And I'll be there when you need me."

There was a moment of almost-silence. The only sounds were of the waves crashing against the rocks, and Iris sniffling every so often.

"Keith?"

"Yeah, Iris?" They pulled away from each other slightly, and stared deeply into one another's eyes.

"Thanks."

"No problem."

The two of them stayed in that spot, just like that, for the rest of the night. They didn't talk. They just held onto each other, letting the atmosphere settle around them.

Keith/Iris Conclusion

The night Keith and Iris spent holding each other blossomed into something far more than a friendship. It became official after Keith broke things off with Marissa and had a mandatory talk with Jai and "Mr. West". Nothing bad ever came from the relationship, however.

Eventually, Keith gave up the costume act to pursue his career in Queen Industries so he could support his then-fiance, Iris. After a year of settling in, Keith proposed with a serenade of Hey Love. Jai was his Best Man, and Cait--who had been revived--was the Maid of Honor.

After a year of married life, Keith and Iris had twins; Caitria and Connor Queen. Connor grew up to take on the mantle of Green Arrow, and Caitria grew up to be the second female to take on the mantle of The Flash (her mother being the first). Keith and Iris grew old together and died happily in each other's arms.

Keith/Cait Curry

The first time they met, Keith, by default, hit on her. Of course, she didn't return the advance. Cait was already taken, and the guy was a heavy hitter. He never got hit, by either Cait or Ty, but he got the hint.

They met again and again when Keith visited Iris. Nothing really happened. Keith was always interested in the idea of taking Cait out, but he knew that was a no-go. That didn't stop him from joking with her every so often.

Then Cait died. Ty lost it. It was as if he needed her to keep him sane. A team was assembled to take him down--the Kryptonians, Atlanteans, Captain Marvel and Shadowpact. Ironically, Cait was revived soon after, and Ty wasn't there to be with her.

Keith took this chance to try and connect with her. Maybe he couldn't fill the hole Ty left, but he was funny and pretty nice. He got through to Cait as somebody she could rely on to make her laugh and feel good. Over time, Keith asked her out on an official date, and she accepted.

The pair of them were actually a good match. Keith suffered thorough meeting Arthur, who /did not/ approve of him. Cait enjoyed Arrow Family Game Nights, which she started winning because she, like Connor, did not cheat. Keith had also given up the costumed life, which made it easier for Cait to settle into a life where she didn't have to be the hero.

After two years of dating, Keith proposed. Cait accepted, and the two of them got married. They had a daughter, Mera Queen, and adopted an orphan, Derrick Raine, off the streets. Mera immersed herself in the life of a hero, and Derrick became the next Green Arrow.
