WE'RE GOING HOME TOMORROW!

Finally! I'm so excited. I love Christmas and decorating, even though we won't get to enjoy the decorations this year because we won't even be home, but I hope we stay in one of those cabins on top of a mountain like in the movies and we get to decorate it and even put up a fake Christmas tree like grandma does and that grandpa pretends he's allergic to, so he doesn't have to help us decorate. Matthew tried to pretend once, too, but he's not a very good liar, and how do you fake sneezing, anyway? So he's always been stuck with roof decorations, which isn't even a big deal, because he's old enough to use magic without getting in trouble, but he still complains and whines and is a general pain in the arse, but when isn't he?

Anyway, what are your plans for Christmas, Hogwarts? And why are people staying? Don't you see this castle enough as it is?

So! Mum wanted to know if you're going to come home with us right after we get to the station or if you're going home first, then come to our house or what? She's fine with either! But she wanted to make sure so she could write to your parents (which she's going to do anyway, knowing her) and let them know that you're in good hands!

She's still not telling me where we're going and actually, no one is, and I don't understand why because it's not like it's a huge secret, but oh well. Maybe she's kidnapping us all and selling us to muggles who can't have kids, which wouldn't be too bad, I guess, if it makes them happy, except for the part where I'd miss my family, that is. And okay, she did tell me we were leaving on Sunday morning and we're going shopping on Thursday, too, but that's about it and OH! Gelsey invited me to spend a couple of days with her over the holidays and she said you were both welcome to join aswell, and well, I told her I'd talk to you about it first because I can't make those decisions for you, so here I am, talking to you about it! What should I tell her?

GUESS GUESS GUESS!!! I know you will pick anything brilliant and wonderful and perfect, but you know that really all I need is you! I was just thinking that, since I feel like Neville Longbottom is just an angel in people clothes, just like you are, and that made me realise just how unspeakably lucky I am to have a Mellie as my best friend. Mum says that your heart was dipped right in gold, and she's so right! It is, and I love you, and I just wanted to say that before I forgot, because sometimes I forget things, as if memories were socks to be lost in the laundry, which happens all too often for me at home.

Aren't you so excited to see your family! I can't wait to see Mum--oh! And she owled your mum, and she said the owl tried to bite her, and she's seriously considering buying your parents a fax machine, but I told Mummy to stop being so silly and just be sure to give the owl an apple instead of gasping at it in fright, like she sometimes still does.

OKAY OKAY OKAY!!! I'm going to guess and come up with the best Christmas present ever for you or the second best, because I doubt the very best would appreciate getting kidnapped and put in a box and I don't know if they make boxes that big, though I guess you could always charm them to make more room and put holes on the top so he doesn't suffocate but then wouldn't the owls get too tired for carrying so much weight? Hm, I could still try, though, because you do deserve the very best after all! And I love you, too, and I love your mum and I really hope we can go visit during the holidays so we can eat marshmellows dipped in hot chocolate until our stomachs hurt and then some more! And speaking of socks, have you seen my green ones with the yellow stripes? I can't find them anywhere! I think the house elves took them again, though Merlin knows why!

I am! I can't wait to see them! It's only been a couple of month but I bet Ethan's already TALLER than me! He was almost my height when I came here and you know people grow up so fast, it's amazing! And your mum should spend some time with my mum while we're here at Hogwarts, you know? Maybe she needs to spend a lot of time around wizards so she gets used to the owls and the boggarts in the basements and all that stuff, you know? And hey, I still have no idea how those fax machines work! How do they do that without magic? It's like.. I don't get it!

OH YES. It would be so sad if the Best Present Ever died on the way to be shipped! And we have to sign for deliveries, since it isn't wise to put a package on a stoop in London, even in our neighbourhood, so he could not only be dead but then stolen and taken to some place like Angel, where there is a lovely crepe shoppe but also a horrible theft ring, and I'd hate to have him carved up for parts like he was just another knicked Jaguar! But, yes, still, you should try! Oh yes! That's what we should have, with both the big marshmallows and the small ones, and then go to the museum and put on the robes of the Duke of Buckingham that are in the storage vaults and pretend that we own the world.

I haven't seen your socks! I will go on a hunt, using my powers as prefect. I will find them, yes!

I think that we need to hex Ethan so that he stops growing, it is perfectly unfair that he gets to grow and you don't, it's very exclusionary! We must put a stop to it. And if Mum found a boggart, I think she would scream so loud that we could hear it here. But I think Mum needs to spend more time with your family, I think that is required! I will tell her that she isn't imposing, and that way, she can learn more, which is so hard, since I'm still not allowed to do magic at home, and besides, I wouldn't be able to show her everything that she'd want to know. It might be a good perk up, especially I accidentally Saw something that is going to make her upset, but I daresay that was Professor Trelawney's fault since I Saw it during my exam and tried to squirm out of the vision, but she insisted I See it through. She gave me full marks, but still.

It's fiberoptics! That's all I know. When I was little, I thought it worked by magic, isn't that silly? That's not real magic at all, just science!

I'm so ready to go home, too. I can't wait to see my family...though, I really think our sister-in-law is preggers, so that will be ~~obnoxious~~ lovely to hear at the hols. So...just going home to the Burrow, see everyone and all of our family friends, Professor Lupin has a baby boy--Teddy! He's an animagus, like his mum, he's so adorable! Oh, and I'll go into London a bit, since Harry's place is there, and he wants some help modernizing the place slightly, starting with a Muggle television set so he can watch some awful programme called--Coronation Street? I have no clue.

Remind me, your family is off--skiing, right? That's gonna be so much fun, Melanie. Though I have to say, my favourite thing to do in the snow is a good snowball fight. It's just too tempting!

Aw, a baby! That's so cute! And really, Professor Lupin had a baby? That's so... I didn't even know he was married! Oh, tell him I said congratulations and hi and to your sister-in-law, too! And good for Harry, too! A telly would be the first thing I'd buy for a place of my own, too. They're great, like pictures, only they don't go on and on in a loop and they have sound, too and you can't switch the channels if you get bored of a programme. They're great!

Yes, we're going skiing! I can't wait to get up there in the mountains and try not to hit a tree or something! And I love snowball fights, too, but last time I was in one, I got a horrible cold and well, I'm trying to stay away from the snowball fighting for now!

My mom said it's A-OK to go straight to your house after getting on the train and so long as it's okay with your mother, I think that'll be the plan! I think it's neat that we can spend some time with Gelsey too, since I was considering joining her and her family before. So, that'd be fun!

Hopefully your mom can convince my mom that you're not my secret girlfriend who I'm eloping with, as that's what she thinks.

I can't believe the holidays are almost here!

Oh, it's more than okay with mum! You know how much she loves having people around! And I'll make sure to tell Gelsey you'll be coming, too! It really is going to be a lot of fun!

Hahah, your mum's so funny! We should dress up and take pictures and pretend we're getting married and send them to her on Christmas! But we'll tell your dad is a joke first, so he can take a picture of her when she sees them!

It's amazing, isn't it?
