Phil sat sipping his drink on the concrete bordering of some of the flower beds in the city. They were already on their way home, just taking a break, but it was starting to get dark. Really he was only hanging out with Dolomeck because his brothers had other things too, plus Dol was soooo easy to mess with. Too easy sometimes, but it was a ton of fun and it made everything more entertaining.

"There are a ton of stories that are like horror in the myths! Didn't Venus tell you any? Sheesh. You can't go around not knowing awesome myth stories, Dol."

"You mean after he got the golden fleece more happened? I thought he would marry Medea and live happily ever after as King!" Dolemeck had no clue what he was stepping into by asking to hear more of this story. His green, cat like eyes were wide with wonder, and he was smiling as he enjoyed Phil's story telling... for now, anyway.

"Oh no, you see he still had to go back to his kingdom to try and reclaim it. But remember his promise to Medea...that he'd take her with him and marry her. Well...her father, the king who'd made him do all these tasks did not want to let go of his daughter...not at all. He was going to hunt Jason down, kill him and retrieve his daughter."

Phil lowered his voice to a whisper, as if sharing a secret with Dolomeck that nobody else knew. "Do you know what happens to people who die in greek myth?"

"N-no... what happens when you die in a Greek myth?" Now he was starting to get frightened. "But... but... heroes do not murder the Fathers of their beloveds. And Fathers do not try to slay heroes..."

"Well...everyone goes to Hades, but a soul that never passes onto there is a terrible thing in their culture. And the only way to make sure a soul moves onto the underworld is to be sure to bury the body. So if your friend dies you have to bury him. It's very very important, other heroes had to go back on their journeys to make sure their friends' souls weren't forever stuck," he whispered before moving back to normal volume to continue the story.

"Maybe not...maybe yes. You'll find out. But Jason took Medea with him as he sailed off, and she brought along her younger brother. The father was furious and he sent his whole fleet of ships after them! But Jason had Medea, and Medea was clever, she'd come prepared for this...and she used a very simple trick. Didn't even need magic this time. Do you know what she did?"

"Souls... lost forever..." Now Dolemeck was worried about the family from his era. He had no clue if they were buried properly or not. He grew even more pale. Things were now taking a more frightening turn than expected.

"No... I... I do not know what she did. What did she do?"

Phil leaned in again, his voice dropping to a whisper of the most sinister kind. "What she did was...she took her little brother...and cut him into pieces. And threw the pieces of his body one by one into the great ocean. Bit. By. Bit. And aaaaall the ships of the king's fleet had to stop the chase so they could try and fish the pieces of the little brother's body out of the water...before the sea creatures found them or they sunk to the bottom. For if they missed even one piece....his soul would be stuck between worlds...for eternity."

Dolemeck's eyes started to water up, and then, well... he began to cry. The young lad was nearly blubbering over the tale Phil was telling him.

"That's... that's terrible *He sniffles*" How... how could anyone do that to someone! Not even my brother Charles was that mean to deny me a proper burial if I died... w-wahhhh!"

Phil nearly laughed, his horror story was going well! "But your brother Charles wouldn't murder you and cut you up into little pieces first would he?"

He took Dolomeck's hand and tugged it to keep the other boy walking along. "But Jason was just about to get to the part of the story where he goes to his old kingdom to try and reclaim his throne!" Okay, no not quite, but he was willing to skip ahead to that part of the story for the sake of storytelling. Liberties with storytelling weren't a terrible thing.

Dolemeck was still crying, clutching his stuffed cat in one arm, while Phil dragged him along with the other. He was still crying, even as Phil continued with the story. He felt so sad for Medea's brother. To be betrayed like that!

Even young Dolemeck had vague memories of his brother Charles being mean and betraying him... but no clue as to why or how.

"Now now, you can't cry when we're not even at the end! All heroes who are supposed to be kings must go reclaim their kingdom right? Well, I'll tell you what happened when they got to his homeland. Perhaps he'll be King after all and live happily ever after. Wanna find out?"

"A-aye..." He stammered, trying to not cry anymore. If anything, Dolemeck was reduced to sniffling now and holding on to Phil's hand as they walked. "I want to know if they live happily ever after...."

"You have to listen to find out!" Phil continued walking to his place and keeping hold of Dolomeck's hand as he did so. "Now while the king they'd just escaped was the one who'd had the golden fleece in his kingdom, the current king of Jason's kingdom was the one who'd sent him on that quest. It was such a dangerous quest that the king had sent him on the quest expecting him to die! But he didn't, Jason returned victorious with the golden fleece. But the king who sat on Jason's throne would not give the throne back. What was he to do?"

"I... do not know? Ask for it back politely?" He looked wide eyed as they were getting closer to Phil's home, now. "I do not know what he could do... or should!"

"He just did! And nobody gives stuff back like that, not kingdoms at least."

"Ah, well instead of the prince rescuing the princess....the princess rescues Jason yet again. See, the current king had a few daughters, and he was an old king, and his daughters wanted the best for him. So one day...they came across Medea cooking something in a pot! For she was like a witch, and they might've heard rumours...so she told them to stay and see how she could bring back youth. What they saw was this: Medea took an old ram, and she cut it up! Just like she had her brother. Except this time she put the pieces in the boiling pot...and stirred, and soon...a miracle happened! A young ram sprang from the pot! A miracle of youth!"

He grinned happily, for this part seemed positive. Making people younger and all. "So the daughters rushed to their father, for they really loved him a lot and wanted the best for him. He was really old you see, and perhaps they could make him young again! Like the ram!"

He lowered his voice now as he continued. "But you see...Medea hadn't told them everything. So...the daughters took their father and cut him up into pieces. They put him in a boiling pot just like Medea had...and waited for a younger father to pop out. And waited. And waited. But...they were not Medea. And all they had done...was just murder their father."

Dolemeck once more was in shock over such a gruesome tale. Once again, Phil caused him to start crying. What a horrific tale! How could Phil think this was something so wonderful to tell, or even like!? This was nothing like the tales Venus told him! This was horrible!

He opened the door to his place when they got there. "And since Medea was his wife, upon hearing about what happened, both Jason and Medea were banished from his kingdom and told never ever to return! And so Jason was chased away from the kingdom he should've ruled, never to return or rule it ever."

Phil grinned back at Dolomeck. "We're here! And don't worry, there's more of the story, he and Medea do live elsewhere and have kids, but that's another story if you want to hear."
