More Plots... of Doom!

 

Dance with the Devil!

 

1)      When an alien space craft is detected landing somewhere in the New Jersey Pine Barrens, the Doom Patrol is dispatched by Project Cadmus to investigate, ostensibly to clear the way for a recovery team to seize the space craft.

 

2)      Making their way through the Barrens, it quickly starts to get dark on the Doom Patrol.  They encounter a group of campers, who say one of their number has gone missing.

 

3)      The DP and campers are attacked in the night by some kind of creature.  They fight it off, but another of the campers is taken.  The DP head off after it.

 

4)      The DP come across a spaceship, surrounded by creatures who appear to be the Jersey Devil, along with the remains of the kidnapped campers.  The DP fight with the Devils.

 

5)      As the DP begins to win the fight, the remaining campers show up and kill one of the Devils with advanced alien weaponry.  The ship opens to reveal more people who look like the campers.  It is revealed that they are hunters, who had come to Earth to hunt the Devils.  The Devils reveal themselves capable of intelligent action.

 

6)      DP fights the hunters and wins.  They disable the spaceship and vow not to tell anyone about the Devils.

 

7)      Surprise!  No secretive Cadmus/Chief moment this plot.

 

 

 

 

The Prophets of Doom!

 

1)      The DP are sent into the Habitat, a vast , bordered woodland outside of the Project, on a mission to recover a component of a device that was accidentally dropped from the cargo ship bringing it in.

 

2)      The DP battle giant ants and look to be beaten, when they are rescued by a group that seems half military unit/half band of hippies/half biker gang.

 

3)      The group introduces themselves as the Hairies, a group dedicated to keeping watch on Project Cadmus and its excesses.  Something they say has become increasingly difficult of late.  While they think the DP seem like good people… they’re not exactly sure which side they’re on.

 

4)      The Hairies decide to take the DP to their leaders, who are, in fact, a previous generation Guardian clone, along with the now-adult clones of the Newsboy Legion.  They want the DP to renounce Project Cadmus and help them bring it down.

 

5)      The DP refuses, though some of the evidence gives them pause.  But now that they know of the Hairies, they can’t be allowed to leave either…   DP fight with the Hairies.

 

6)      Before it can get too far, however, the Guardian has a change of heart and allows them to leave, even tossing them the part they’d been sent to find in the first place.

 

7)      While continuing to work for the Chief and Cadmus, the DP now have some lingering doubts to deal with…

 

8)      And Caulder muses on how the Hairies have played right into his hands…
