Google searches I have done today:

viral pathogens
earthquakes rocky mountain region
bullet proof vests effectiveness

The hazards of being a writer are great, in every sense of that adjective.

Although if the government is monitoring my activities I'm probably screwed. It's all research for a novel, I swear! Please don't send homeland security after me. Thank you.

That's a very eclectic search.

Yeah, when I decided to write a post-apocalyptic thriller I didn't realize just how much weird stuff I was going to need to know. They never teach you the useful stuff in school...

Just out of curiosity, what do earthquakes in the Rocky Mountains have to do with a post-apocalyptic thriller?

I wanted to use a natural disaster as a plot device, because my characters' lives didn't suck enough already, and I was trying to decide what would be the most reasonable. I may hit them with a blizzard too. I figure things haven't gone as far as they can reasonably go until things have gotten as bad as they can possibly get.

That certainly sounds...thrilling.

I hope so. That's sort of the point.

Viral pathogens... zombies? Make sure to make good use of zombies. You can't have a good Post-/apoc/ novel without the threat os a few /zom/. ^_^

Is there any such thing as bad use of zombies, Alena?

I was going for something a little more realistic actually, but maybe it could work. Rampant rumors, additional fear, areas where no one goes because of the threat of diseased cannibalistic freaks. Want me to name the leader of the shambling menace after you?

Touche.

Realistic? It's completely realistic to think that somewhere at this very point in time that the government or some group standing alone is creating or has created zombies. George A. Romero is in on it, where do you think he got the original idea from? Just pulled it out of thing air? I think not.

I'd be honoured. ^_^

Yes but I thought I'd be the Queen of Mars and not have to worry.

Ray and Cormac would be proud. I'd suggest looking up 'decline of western civilazition as we know it' myself.

(OOC: That's it. I'm beating up Scribbld. >.<)

Aw, thanks. I hope they would be. :)

I looked up 'decline of western civilization as we know it' but all I got were pages about Paris Hilton.

No problem-o. Hey, that's some pretty big footsteps to fill, but it's good to see we've got someone so capable to do it. :D You are so lame, Savannah

Eeesh, maybe I'll have to actually do some research of my own before offering you help with yours again. I promise it won't happen again.
