He may not be giving the kiss his full attention at the moment but he's enjoying it too. Which just makes the act more believable. He makes a show of whispering in her ear and giving her ass a quick tap as they make their way to the building.
"Act normal, they'll just come to the obvious conclusion and not ask any questions." And if they do he'll stay in character unless he absolutely has to break out of it. Best to not draw too much attention.
