Ernie didn't want to go out today, even if it was a holiday. No. He wanted a nice, quiet night in, where he didn't have to worry about anything except for the alcohol in his right hand. He sat alone on his couch, reading through cards that he had received from his family and friends, not particularly wanting to spend the holiday anywhere except for his flat. It was, after all, his first time away from home. Being a grown man like he claimed to be, he was too gruff to go back home for the holidays - but he didn't particularly feel like getting shitfaced with his guy friends on New Years' Eve, so he did it at home, instead.
