well, i actually don't waste my money on really expensive make up, because that isn't the point. i usually use neutrogena, cover girl and rimmel.

however, instead of using those eyeshadow applicators (i think those are the devil, i'm sorry..), i use eyeshadow brushes. you can buy them at any beauty supply store, or even at walgreen's.

i always do my eyeshadow smokey, i'd say, so if you want to do it like that, always start at the crease of your eye lid, and work your way to the outside of the lid. using different sized brushes helps.

i hope i gave a little bit of good advice! ;[
