[A Bit of the Old Ludwig Van |As I Lay Dying - Within Destruction]

So it looks like I'm moving out after all. Apparently, since I put a deposit down for a dorm with Conor, even if I don't live there, I'd still have to pay for it. So I have to move in there. I'm not really that bummed about it though.

I started a blog, setthenightonfire.wordpress.com. I'm thinking about what to update it with.

I'm done with school. I had my last final this morning. Now all I have to do is show up to two sessions for my Mass Comm class to watch presentations of final projects.

[A Bit of the Old Ludwig Van |Before the Dawn - Last Song]

So I went to watch a movie, layed down on my bed, and completely passed out. LOL. I was really fucking exhausted. So I'm watching Them, again. Fucking amazing movie. Really really terrifying. America needs to take note, because aside from a couple of films, THIS is how you do horror.

Ugh I'm so sick of my stupid fucking roommates. Greg went to wake Jake up at 11 AM.... ELEVEN FUCKING AM TO SMOKE WEED! I get that it's Cinco De Mayo, and I plan to celebrate as well, but not till later this afternoon, have a few beers, whatever. But seriously. To wake someone up at 11 in the morning to smoke weed? Grow the fuck up. Thank god I'm moving out in two weeks. Stupid fucking shit. Christ. Puts me in a shitty mood for the rest of the day.

Deliver Us.... [Apr. 29th, 2009|11:34 pm]
[A Bit of the Old Ludwig Van |Darkest Hour- Deliver Us]

So the band is pretty much formed. Dead Tide is now a reality. Over the past two years, we've gone through numerous "SRSBZNS" phases, played with multiple guitarists, and worked our asses off on stuff that never really came to fruition. Until now.  This is really happening. We have... basically, a full band. We lack a bassist, but with the style we play in, we really don't need one. It would sound brutal as hell, but it's not a neccessity at this point. Logan officially joined the band last night as the third guitarist, and we've been practicing our asses off over the past couple of days. He learned our first original song, "8 AM Madness" in almost no time at all. He's an incredible guitarist. He has been ever since I played with him in Crimson Skies back in high school. He played it with me and Phil yesterday, me and Glen for most of the day today, and me, Phil, and Glen for like, an hour tonight. It sounds absolutely incredible. We're gonna be practicing two days a week, so hopefully, by the time summer officially rolls around, we'll have a good deal of material. Then, it's off to the studio to record a demo. Three heavy ass guitars, an incredible vocalist, and, not to brag,  an absolutely filthy good drummer, we hope this is our big break. We'd love to tour and play shows with established bands, and the only way to do that is to work our asses off, which we're more than prepared to do. This is what I want to do for a living, and I'm prepared to give everything I have to make sure we're the future of the melodic death metal genre. From what everyone who's heard it has told us, our potential is incredible, our talent is through the roof. The sky is most certainly the limit for Dead Tide, and I hope one day, I'll be able to post tour dates for around the country and be able to invite all my friends and all that shit.

I'm beyond happy at this point, between the band and having someone in my life who makes me truly feel so incredibly special and free. So shit with school and any personal problems or whatever is just bouncing off of me right now. I feel bulletproof.

[A Bit of the Old Ludwig Van |Metallica - Bleeding Me]

It's so fucking HOT out. Jesus. Like, earlier this week it was in the 60s, a little rainy a few days, but it was nice. I could go out in jeans a hoodie and be comfortable. Yesterday, the high was 83. Today it's 88. The next like, three days, it's gonna float around in that area. So apparently, the world doesn't need spring. We're going straight into fucking summer. I hate the intense heat and the intense cold. I wish it could stay like, in the 60s year round. I have to work today, too. And I have no shorts. At least, I don't think so. I think they're packed away at my grandparent's house. This weather+jeans=very bad. At least I still have my air conditioner for the next few days. I can just come home from class and crank the AC and just chill. Literally.

The past few days have just been absolutely incredible. I've been so happy.

I can't believe school's almost over. I only have another like, two weeks of classes, and finals. Then I have to move back home for the summer, which is gonna suck. But I can't wait to move in with Andrew and Conor next year. Shit in this house is just getting ridiculous. Mike threw a party last night for a bunch of his friends from Jersey, and most of em were really weird. This one kid kept asking me to get him weed. I was ready to flip out. Mike was being a pain in the ass, too. When he drinks, he gets really rude and bitchy and... demanding, I guess. I was sitting in my room, alone, listening to music and talking to [info]freebird when he just barges in, yelling about how I need to blast some metal so, and I quote, "he can go apeshit". I was about to tell him to fuck off and get out of my room, but I decided drama would only make the night more irritating, so I played a couple of songs, and he wandered off. Stupid shit pisses me off so much.

I think I'm gonna go lay down before work. It feels good to do a general update again haha. It's been a while.

The rest of the Ireland trip, shorthanded [Apr. 22nd, 2009|05:14 pm]
[A Bit of the Old Ludwig Van |Misery Signals - Ebb and Flow]

Okay. So I left off on Tuesday....

Andrew and Conor went back to class Wednesday, since they had off Monday and Tuesday for Patty's Day. Matt and I decided to head into the city and go sightseeing. We hopped on a tour bus, and decided we would hit up the Guinness Brewery. Holy shit. It was like heaven. 7 floors of everything imaginable. It started with ingredients, then went to the brewing process, then we went through a tasting lab, where we got to try a free like, half pint of Guinness right as it came out. Incredible. Then they had floors dedicated to advertising and around the world kinda stuff. The top floor was a circular bar, looking out over the entire city. Such an amazing view. We got a free pint, and the bartender drew shamrocks in the foam. We headed back to the school, hung out with Andrew and Conor, drank a bit, and watched Waking Ned Devine. Really good movie.

We pretty much did the same thing as Wednesday. Matt and I decided to go on a tour of Kilmainham Gaol, the famous Irish prison, which closed in 19...16 I believe. It was really interesting. It was a guided tour, unlike Guinness, so we got a really cool history lesson as we went along. We started in the original area of the jail, then moved to the newer wing, which has been in movies and music videos and stuff. Then we went outside, and ended at the area where they executed prisoners. It was really sombering. That night, we ordered some taco fries from Apache, the Dominos-ish pizzeria, and watched In The Name of the Father, one of the movies that was filmed in Kilmainham. Awesome awesome awesome movie.

Friday: My last day =(. The four of us went around the city yet again, and went to the Jameson Distillery. It was a pretty short tour, not as cool as the Guinness brewery. Still interesting though. I volunteered for a taste test at the end of the tour. They set out three shots of Whiskey, one Jameson, one Jack Daniels, and one Johnny Walker, and we had to try each and pick which was best. Obviously, Jameson was. Then we signed the guestbook with fake names and comments.

Andrew: Daniel Plainview: "I drink your whiskey. I DRINK IT UP!"
Conor: Jack Nicholson: "Beer is still the best drink in the world"
Me: Patrick Bateman: "The whiskey at Dorsia is shit compared to this place"
Matt: Jimmy (I'll explain afterwards): "OH FOR FUCK'S SAKE! I'm goin' down to Grangers and have myself a pint!"

Okay. So. Jimmy. Jimmy is this guy in his 60s who works at the school we were staying at, basically a janitor/maintenance guy. He definitely drank alot, and probably did alot of drugs back in the day. He always hung out with us when we were at the school, drank with us, etc. and told us hilarious stories. And the quote above was what he would always say when something went wrong, or when he got pissed off. He was hilarious.

So after we got back from the Jameson Distillery, we hung out for a couple of hours, then headed back into the city for a party that Andrew's friend PJ was throwing. She was a student he knew from NYU, and she had a penthouse apartment in downtown Dublin. It was incredible. The party was PACKED. We all got drunk, had an awesome time. Andrew and Conor got pissed because the girls they were trying to get with had boyfriends, so they left. They couldn't unlock the huge gate at the front of the apartment building, so they had to climb it, and... I dunno where they went haha. They were at the school by the time Andrew and I got back at like, 4 in the morning. I passed out right away. The next morning, Andrew woke me up, and we all went and had breakfast, and hung out for a couple of hours. I packed my bags, and Andrew called a cab for me. We said our goodbyes, and I went to the airport. After like, an hour in line, and then a 4 hour wait to get on the plane, and another like, 8 hours on the flight, which had some incredible scenery, I was home. My mom and sister picked me up from the airport, and I basically went home and crashed, since I was still on Ireland time. I didn't have to work the next day, either, so I slept like woah.

So yeah. That's it. My trip. Haha it was way too much fun. I can't wait to go back in 2010, when Andrew, Conor, and I go backpacking. Should be incredible.

Whoooooooooo [Apr. 11th, 2009|03:26 am]
Tonight was a lot of fun. And there's another chapter of the mysterious Ireland saga coming within the next two days, I swear. I haven't had the energy to type it all up, but I'll be able to get it done tonight.

I went to hang out with Josh tonight after work, which was fun. I haven't seen him in a while. We went out, got some beer, and went bowling. We sat in my car before we went in, drinking and catching up on shit. Then we bought another pitcher of beer at the bowling alley. I'm a bad bowler normally, but jesus. When I'm drunk. I'm terrible. Then we went and saw Fast and Furious. Not too bad. The cars are fucking incredible.

I have to be up for work in like, 6 hours, so I'm going to bed.

[Mar. 14th, 2009|09:52 pm]
So tonight's my last night in the states for a week. I'm fucking excited. I'm probably not gonna be able to sleep.

Tomorrow, I'm getting up around 11/12, and basically lounging for a while, making sure I have everything together that I still have to pack. All my clothes are packed, with the exception of a few things, and I need to pack my body wash/shampoo/deoderant/glasses/contacts etc, and all the books I'm taking on the flight, all the chargers for my electronics, etc.

Kyle might come up for lunch tomorrow and hang out for a bit before I leave.

Monday, when I get there, I have like, 10 hours before Andrew and Conor get back from Belfast with the school group. I think I'm gonna rent a room for a night, even though I'm staying in Andrew and Conor's room, just so I can leave my bags somewhere safe, and go out and sightsee/drink.

If I don't update before I leave, be safe and all that shit. I'll hopefully be able to get on a computer, and maybe give an update from over there. If not, I'll be back with fucktons of pictures and stories.
