LANA LIAO
Thanks to her devious dad, Lana was born Hazel Nutt Liao (Hazel her first name, Nutt her middle). Even with her absurd name, Lana had her dad wrapped around her finger at birth. She followed him where ever she could until she grew up, gaining a head start on her vocal talents. While pop was fun to sing as a young girl, she did not find it to be her calling like her twin Crescens had with rap. So while her twin went off to Los Angeles to pursue his passion, Lana remained in Taiwan.
After her high school classmates eventually realized her name was not Hazelnut and Nutt was her middle name, she changed her name to Lana. She was a fairly popular kid enjoying high school with friends and little drama. It was only when she decided to leave the nest to become an adult did she leave Taiwan to attend college in Hong Kong.Taking on the arduous task to becoming an adult, Lana suggested she become independent and manage her own finances. Only then did she realize she was a pampered child. Student loans piled up and as per her request, her parents did not get involved. Seeking advice from her older brother Jo King, Lana went to an event her brother was singing at.
Having heard little jazz, Lana was floored listening to her brother. She had taken a pop route in her music major, which she quickly changed to jazz. That inspired her to find a job singing at a club near her apartment. Her first few rounds were terrifying, crucial mistakes occurring onstage like the dreaded screech of the microphone...but with more experience tucked under her belt Lana continued to perform.
