i like lisbeth but i don't like how all of her strength depends on how men treat her. i know that's the point of the books, but i have trouble seeing her as an icon or admirable when the entire series uses men to tear her down just to make her strong. why couldn't she be strong as an individual outside of male dominated abuse

because lisbeth is based on a real life girl that steig larsson saw getting gang raped when he was 15, he wrote those books as means to cope since he didn't do anything about it back then and then he died

i know, that's why i said i know it's the point of the books but because of that i can't really see her as a strong feminist character because her feminism comes solely from bad experiences

probably because she takes charge of every situation she's in whether it be enacting revenge or initiating sex with men and women
